What you'll do

PLD Space is an international company whose mission is to transport satellites into space, vertically integrating the engineering, testing, manufacturing, and operations of its reusable and sustainable rockets. Based in Elche and founded in 2011 by Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú, PLD Space has established itself as a world reference in the small satellite launch vehicle sector. Its MIURA rocket family and its LINCE crew capsule position the company as a leader in European technological sovereignty in space transportation, covering the full range of space missions.

PLD Space has more than 188,000 m² of technical facilities in Elche, Teruel, Kourou (French Guiana), and Duqm (Oman), allowing it to offer complete launch services for satellites and other payloads into space.

Teamwork, courage, determination, and ambition enable PLD Space to guarantee autonomous and reliable access to space for satellites at a globally competitive price. The company is able to offer the best launch services to commercial satellite operators, institutions, and national and international government agencies.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, your main mission within the area will consist of developing manufacturing processes for components, including mainly CNC machining and welding processes, as well as other manufacturing processes (water jet cutting, drilling, forming, cleaning…) necessary to meet the MIURA 5 program schedule.

The right person will bring an open mindset and use a logical and disciplined approach to evaluate and select the correct set of solutions.

  • Development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes.
  • Definition of manufacturing processes, material flow, and inspection points for the different elements that make up the launch vehicle components.
  • Identification and planning of both production means, such as tooling and raw materials, necessary to carry out the manufacturing of the required components.
  • Generation of mBOMs (Manufacturing Bills of Materials), routing operations, 3D models, and drawings required for the different manufacturing processes.
  • Drafting of technical documentation such as work instructions, technical manuals, and forms necessary to ensure the quality of manufacturing process execution and its traceability.
  • Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, based on results obtained during prototype production.
  • Development, management, and tracking of documentation in ERP in a meticulous and organized manner.
  • Technical support and troubleshooting on the shop floor during production phases.
  • Supervision and validation of manufacturing processes for metallic materials, general machining, welding, sheet metal and tube bending, coatings, and other processes specific to precision sheet metal work.
  • Concurrent engineering with the Design and Supply Chain areas to evolve designs and improve processes in both quality and manufacturing capacity. Rapid implementation.
  • Support in the design and manufacturing of tooling, as well as support equipment, to facilitate component manufacturing.
  • Plan and launch manufacturing orders/work orders and track them in a timely and proper manner to ensure compliance with deadlines and quality criteria.
  • Attention to detail and maintaining high-quality standards in component manufacturing.
  • Rapid resolution of Non-Conformities and collaboration with the Quality area to implement corrective actions (root cause and other types).
