Job description

Mission

Ensure the proper functioning of auxiliary and transport equipment, as well as collaborate with healthcare staff in all duties assigned, in order to contribute to the proper functioning of the center in accordance with established protocols and procedures.

Main responsibilities

Collaborate in patient assistance, reception, and transport, always complying with medical and nursing instructions.

Monitor the patient's condition, maintaining a constant state of alertness regarding any changes in their status.

Respect and maintain an appropriate relationship with patients and families, collaborating in the promotion and maintenance of a professional and responsible environment.

Assist the nursing team in mobilizing patients who require it.

Ensure patient privacy both during mobilization within the hospitalization unit and during transport to other hospital departments.

Transport patients when necessary, not leaving them alone until the designated person takes charge of them.

Identify the patient before transport by asking (whenever the patient's condition allows) for their first name, last name, and date of birth, and cross-check this with the identification wristband.

Properly receive the patient, assessing whether they need help to mobilize and instructing them to provide their details at the admissions service, as well as notifying the nursing staff of their arrival by handing over the admission form.

Ensure the proper reception of patients, whether they arrive by ambulance or by other means; as well as receiving and attending to ambulance staff who come to the center.

Admit patients to the hospitalization area with their medical record and notify the nursing staff following the established procedure.

Transport patients for Complementary Tests or Consultations, not abandoning them until the person responsible for the scheduled tests or consultations takes charge of them.

Provide assistance to nurses and ward assistants with the movement, hygiene, and transport of bedridden patients who require special care due to their conditions.

Transport deceased patients to the morgue following the established procedure.

Ensure the mobilization and transport of patients between departments, clinics, and/or rooms.

Keep the emergency room entrances stocked with wheelchairs and stretchers.

Monitor the emergency room entrances, allowing access only to authorized persons.

Transport documentation to the various laboratories, blood bank, pharmacy, admissions service, etc., and collect the results.

Requirements

Experience

3 to 6 months in a similar position

Education

Vocational training degree in the healthcare sector

Course in patient mobilization or hospital porter/orderly training

Knowledge of languages is valued

Misión

Garantizar el buen funcionamiento del material auxiliar y de traslados así como colaborar con el personal sanitario en todas aquellas funciones que le sean requeridas con el fin de contribuir al buen funcionamiento del centro conforme a los protocolos y procedimientos establecidos.

Responsabilidades principales

Colaborar en la asistencia, recepción y transporte de pacientes cumpliendo siempre con las instrucciones médicas y de enfermería.

Observar el estado del paciente, manteniendo un estado de alerta permanente ante los cambios de los pacientes.

Respetar y mantener una relación adecuada con pacientes y familiares, colaborando en la promoción y mantenimiento de un entorno profesional y responsable.

Ayudar al equipo de enfermería en la movilización de los pacientes que así lo requieran.

Garantizar la intimidad del paciente tanto en la movilización en la unidad de hospitalización como en el traslado a otras dependencias del hospital.

Realizar traslados de pacientes cuando sea necesario no dejándoles solos hasta que la persona indicada se haga cargo del mismo.

Identificar al paciente antes de un traslado pidiéndole (siempre que la situación del paciente lo permita) que le diga su nombre, apellidos y fecha de nacimiento y lo cotejará con la pulsera de identificación.

Recibir correctamente al paciente, valorando si necesita ayuda para movilizarse e indicándole que informe sus datos en el servicio de admisión, así como avisar a enfermería de su llegada entregándole la hoja de admisión.

Garantizar la correcta recepción de pacientes, ya vengan en ambulancia o por otro medio; así como recibir y atender al personal de ambulancias que acudan al centro.

Ingresar a los pacientes en el área de hospitalización con la historia clínica y avisar a enfermería siguiendo el procedimiento establecido.

Trasladar a los pacientes para la realización de Pruebas Complementarias o Consultas, no abandonándoles hasta que la persona responsable de las citadas pruebas o consultas se haga cargo de ellos.

Proporcionar ayuda a las enfermeras y auxiliares de planta al movimiento, aseo y traslado de los enfermos encamados que requieran un trato especial en razón a sus dolencias.

Trasladar los cadáveres a la morgue siguiendo el procedimiento establecido.

Asegurar la movilización y el traslado de pacientes entre departamentos, consultas y/o habitaciones.

Mantener las entradas de urgencias provistas de sillas de ruedas y camillas.

Vigilar las entradas al área de urgencias, permitiendo el acceso sólo a las personas autorizadas para ello.

Trasladar documentación a los distintos laboratorios, banco de sangre, farmacia, servicio de admisión, etc. y recoger los resultados.

Ciclo formativo de grado sector sanitario

Curso de movilización de pacientes o celador sanitario
