Requirements
What we're looking for
We are looking for a professional with experience in mobile robotics, autonomous systems, navigation, or control, who enjoys solving complex problems and taking developments out of a purely theoretical environment.
We are looking for a person with:
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace, Robotics, Automation, or a similar qualification.
At least five years of professional experience in mobile robotics, autonomous systems, or related fields.
Demonstrable experience in navigation and localization, GNC, mobile robotics, or autonomous systems.
Solid knowledge in several of these areas:
Sensor fusion and state estimation.
Kalman filters, EKF, and UKF.
GNSS/GNSS-RTK, IMU, and odometry.
Visual, LiDAR, or multimodal SLAM.
Path planning and trajectory generation.
Kinematic and dynamic vehicle control.
ROS/ROS2.
C++ and/or Python.
Linux.
Gazebo, Ignition, or other equivalent simulation environments.
Nice to have
We will especially value practical experience with UGVs, outdoor operations, LiDAR and vision integration, navigation in degraded GNSS environments, distributed systems, multi-agent architectures, and R&D projects linked to autonomy.
We do not expect a single person to absolutely master all the technologies on the list. We are especially interested in technical depth in one or several of these areas, along with the ability to connect disciplines and build a coherent autonomy solution.
The role
At Sener Aeroespacial y Defensa, we continue to expand our capabilities in autonomous systems, navigation, and control. We are looking for a senior professional who wants to participate in the development of autonomous and cooperative terrestrial robotic platforms, working on problems that do not end in simulation: robust localization, navigation in degraded environments, sensor fusion, decision-making, and validation on real platforms.
We are not just looking for someone who knows the algorithms. We are looking for a person capable of understanding the complete system, converting an operational need into a technically solid solution, and remaining directly involved in development, integration, and testing.
At Sener we have consolidated experience in guidance, navigation, and control, an activity in which we have progressively expanded our responsibilities to act as leads for entire subsystems. We also develop our own solutions in unmanned systems that integrate navigation and control, communications, mission simulation, and autonomous operation.
You will join a multidisciplinary team to develop autonomy capabilities applicable to unmanned ground vehicles, UGVs, and cooperative platforms.
Your work will span the entire journey from the algorithm to its behavior in real conditions: modeling, simulation, software development, integration with sensors and robotic architectures, validation, and field testing.
What you'll do
Your main responsibilities will include:
Develop autonomous localization and navigation algorithms for terrestrial vehicles.
Design sensor fusion solutions combining GNSS/GNSS-RTK, IMU, odometry, cameras, and LiDAR.
Work on SLAM, state estimation, mapping, and localization algorithms.
Develop robust navigation for environments with degraded or denied GNSS.
Design guidance, trajectory planning, and path planning algorithms.
Develop kinematic and dynamic control laws for differential, skid-steering, and Ackermann platforms.
Participate in cooperative navigation, collaborative localization, and multi-robot coordination capabilities.
Integrate solutions on ROS/ROS2 architectures, primarily using C++ and Python.
Prepare simulation environments and participate in laboratory validation and field testing.
Provide expertise as a technical reference, helping other professionals on the team without moving away from development.
This integral approach corresponds to the work currently performed by specialized autonomy profiles: perception integration, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, control, ROS2, and deployment on real vehicles.

In their own words
About the company & team
At Sener, GNC, robotics, software, perception, control, electronics, and systems do not function as watertight compartments. You will work with specialists from different disciplines and will be able to intervene in decisions that cross the entire system architecture.
Our technological culture is based on innovation, excellence, commitment, passion, and teamwork. This translates into professional autonomy, direct technical conversations, and projects in which each person's knowledge contributes to building a complete solution.
Additionally, the position offers space to evolve as a technical reference, lead developments, and mentor profiles with less experience without having to abandon programming, integration, or testing.
