Build the resilient infrastructure that keeps global railways moving safely.
For over 160 years, Siemens Mobility has been a global leader, innovating transportation solutions that move the world. We lead the way in Rolling Stock, Rail Automation & Electrification, Turnkey Systems, Intelligent Traffic Systems, and comprehensive Related Services. Through digitalization, we empower operators worldwide to create intelligent infrastructure, enhance passenger experience, and ensure unparalleled availability. Join us in transforming Mobility Management, Turnkey Projects, Electrification, Mainline & Urban Transport, and Customer Services. If you're ready to make a real impact on a more connected and sustainable future, your journey starts here.
Your mission in our team As an Infrastructure Platform Engineer, you will design, deploy, and secure the physical and virtual platforms that support our critical railway signalling solutions. Your work will directly impact global transit networks, ensuring the highest stability, interoperability, and long-term maintainability for mission-critical operations.

You'll make a difference by

• Analyse customer, system, product, and cybersecurity requirements and translate them into platform architectures, technical specifications, bills of materials, equipment layouts, network and storage designs, redundancy concepts, and verifiable design decisions.
• Design robust, reliable, resilient, and maintainable infrastructure platforms for critical railway solutions, primarily across physical and virtualised environments and, where applicable, integrate containerised components delivered by specialist teams.
• Select, size, configure, integrate, and administer enterprise and industrial equipment, including rack-mounted and specialised hardware, servers, operator workstations, network devices, SAN and NAS storage, Linux and Windows operating systems, virtualisation platforms, middleware, and SQL databases.
• Develop reliable, repeatable, appropriately automated, and version-controlled mechanisms for platform installation, configuration, deployment, updating, backup, and recovery, suited to long-lifecycle industrial systems.
• Build and maintain representative pre-production and validation environments, and apply platform security practices including operating-system hardening, SELinux, firewalling, secure communications, certificate and key management, vulnerability management, antimalware protection, identity integration, and security patching.
• Optimise capacity, performance, availability, monitoring, and resource utilisation, and diagnose complex issues across hardware, operating-system, network, storage, middleware, database, and application layers.
• Plan and execute implementation, integration, testing, commissioning, migration, upgrading, and troubleshooting activities in laboratory and customer environments, providing technical support through project execution, warranty, and maintenance.
• Produce and maintain architecture documents, detailed designs, drawings, test specifications and evidence, commissioning procedures, operational manuals, training materials, and reusable engineering knowledge, in accordance with project, quality, configuration, change-control, and scheduling requirements.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, cybersecurity, validation, operations, procurement, project, supplier, and customer teams to deliver coherent end-to-end solutions and provide customer-facing troubleshooting or training when required.
• Contribute to the controlled evolution, standardisation, automation, and cost-effectiveness of the platform portfolio. Modernisation may include virtualisation and improved engineering practices; containerisation or cloud-native technologies may be incorporated where required in coordination with specialist profiles.

Your success is grounded in

  • A Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience in platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting hardware-intensive and highly available infrastructures.
  • Advanced GNU/Linux administration skills (Red Hat preferred) and strong Bash/Shell scripting abilities.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise networking, storage (SAN/NAS), virtualization, and infrastructure cybersecurity.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish to collaborate effectively in diverse, international projects.

You'll thrive even more if you also bring

Experience with VMware vSphere, Windows Server environments, or SQL databases (PostgreSQL).
Familiarity with configuration automation (Ansible) and modern monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
Previous exposure to industrial control systems, SCADA, or operational technology (OT).
Even if you don't meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply! We value potential, eagerness to learn, and diverse backgrounds.
