Required Experience

  • Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong hands-on experience with German payroll processes is essential.
  • Ideally 3+ years of relevant payroll experience, preferably within German payroll.
  • Experience processing payroll end-to-end in an HR Outsourcing, Shared Services, HR Consulting or corporate environment.
  • Good understanding of payroll controls, deadlines and data accuracy requirements.
  • Experience working with HR and payroll data.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems such as Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills.

Education & certifications

What you'll do

To contribute to and support the team responsible for the execution of German payroll, post-payroll and HR-related activities, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely delivery. The role requires strong knowledge of German payroll processes and the ability to communicate effectively in both German and English.

  • Independently process German Payroll End-to-End, ensuring accurate and timely delivery according to agreed payroll calendars and KPIs.
  • Perform payroll and HR data management activities in line with agreed SLAs and quality standards.
  • Support statutory, year-end and payroll reporting activities.
  • Apply strong knowledge of German payroll processes and country-specific requirements to resolve payroll queries and issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members and contribute to knowledge transfer activities.
  • Respond to tickets, calls and employee/client queries within agreed SLA timescales and to a high standard.
  • Liaise with clients, internal stakeholders and third parties regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Support system maintenance, testing and implementation activities when required.
  • Complete SOC controls on time and provide the necessary evidence.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and recommend preventive actions to avoid recurring payroll issues.
  • Maintain process documentation and DWIs to ensure procedures remain accurate and up to date.
  • Report system issues and defects with sufficient information and evidence for investigation.
  • Escalate deviations from the agreed scope of service to the Service Manager.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential employee and payroll information appropriately.
  • Participate in projects and other activities as required.
