What we're looking for
Degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or similar.
More than 8 years of experience in frontend development, with at least 3 in an architecture or technical reference role.
Having started at least one project from scratch and sustained its decisions over time.
Mastery of React (React 19 and its current rendering model) and TypeScript with solid judgment on component composition, hooks, and state management.
Experience designing the architecture of complex management applications: multiple domains, extensive forms, tables with large data volumes, and role-based access control.
Experience with TanStack Query (or equivalents) for server state: caching, invalidation, synchronization, and error handling.
Design, construction, and maintenance of a design system or component library, with a focus on accessibility and working with headless primitives.
Complex forms with react-hook-form and validation with Zod (or equivalents).
Mastery of modern CSS, style architecture, and design tokens.
Experience in frontend testing (unit, component, and E2E with Playwright or similar) and its integration into CI/CD pipelines.
Modern build tools (Vite) and performance and bundle size optimization.
Consuming APIs from OpenAPI contracts and working with microservices architectures.
Version control with Git and working with CI/CD pipelines.
Judgment to choose technology wisely: valuing maturity, maintenance, and long-term cost over novelty.
Clear communication and the ability to influence technically, generating consensus within the team.
Nice to have
Experience with Next.js and React Native, the rest of the Urbanitae product ecosystem.
Having led the progressive replacement of a production application without interrupting the business.
Having worked on internal tools or back-offices with intensive use by business teams.
Observability and client-side error monitoring.
Having worked in regulated or high-criticality environments: fintech, proptech, banking, or payments.
Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban).
Participation in technical communities: talks, articles, or open source projects.
The role
We are looking for a Frontend Software Architect to design and build Urbanitae's new backOffice from scratch, the internal application from which all company operations are managed (projects and investments, investor validation, wallet and payments, management, and regulatory reporting).
This is not about maintaining an existing tool, but about starting from a blank sheet, defining the architecture, choosing the stack, building the design system, and establishing the standards with which the team will work for the coming years. It is a project with real technical decisions to be made and with the autonomy to make them.
It is a technical reference role with a direct impact on the productivity of the business teams working on the tool every day, and on the reliability of real financial operations within a regulated environment. You will work hand in hand with the Engineering Manager and the CTO.
What you'll do
Define the architecture of the new backOffice: module structure, boundaries between domains, state management and fetching patterns, and the API communication layer.
Choose and justify the stack, documenting architectural decisions along with their alternatives, costs, and risks alongside the CTO and the Engineering Manager.
Design and build the design system: accessible primitives, tokens, reuse criteria, and visual consistency with the rest of Urbanitae's products.
Establish the team's technical standards (typing, code performance quality, client-side security, and testing) and ensure their application.
Define the testing strategy from day one: unit, component, and E2E testing for critical flows and their integration into the CI pipeline.
Define the client-side authorization model by role and functionality, in coordination with backend security controls.
Design the progressive migration strategy from the current tool, guaranteeing the continuity of business operations.
Ensure application performance: bundle size, loading and pagination of large data volumes, and the fluidity of management screens.
Accompany and mentor the team in solution design, reviewing business needs to ensure technical and viable solutions.
The Technical Starting Point
We have a proposed stack to start from, but the final decision will be part of the role's work:
Base: React 19 and TypeScript on Vite (client-side SPA; it is an internal tool after login, so we are not pursuing SSR or SEO).
Server state: TanStack Query as a caching, invalidation, and synchronization layer.
Client state and routing: open decision between TanStack Router, React Router, and lightweight state libraries like Zustand or Jotai.
API Communication: typed client generated from the OpenAPI contract of our microservices.
Design system: construction of a proprietary component library based on accessible headless primitives, aligned with the rest of Urbanitae's products.
Styles: design token system; open to Tailwind, CSS Modules, or an equivalent solution.
Forms and validation: react-hook-form and Zod.
Tables and data visualization: TanStack Table and a graphics library to be defined.
Internationalization: language-based catalogs using a standard library from the React ecosystem.
Client-side authorization: permission model by role and functionality, coordinated with backend security controls.
Quality: strict TypeScript, linting, Vitest and Testing Library, and Playwright for critical management flows.
Build and deployment: Git, GitLab CI, and deployment on Kubernetes in Google Cloud Platform.
Agile methodologies: Scrum and Kanban.
Hiring process
We want the process to be agile and transparent. It consists of 4 phases:
First interview with Diego Vázquez (Engineering Manager) to learn about your experience, technical knowledge, problem-solving, and team fit (30 minutes).
Technical interview with one or two members of the development team, focused on architectural design and a real product case, so you can see firsthand how we work and the day-to-day challenges (1 hour).
Interview with Jorge Gutiérrez (CTO) to learn about the company's origins, its vision, and values (30 minutes).
Final interview with Sandra Sánchez (Head of HR) to evaluate cultural fit (30 minutes).
If you share our vision of transforming the way professional investors access the real estate sector, and you want to be part of a solid project, with a track record and international ambition, we would love for you to join our team!
