Data Engineer

We are looking for a person with real experience designing data infrastructure, who wants to have weight in building a platform from its foundations.

For us, the most important things are:

• Experience designing data infrastructure from scratch or actively participating in its construction.

• Experience with dbt in production.

• Advanced SQL and production-level Python.

• Experience with CDC (Change Data Capture) and incremental ingestion.

• Experience with CI/CD applied to data.

• Experience with pipeline orchestrators (Airflow, Dagster, Azure Data Factory or equivalent).

• Experience with at least one cloud data platform.

• Solid data quality judgment: testing, monitoring, what constitutes "correct" data and how to detect when it stops being so.

• Ability to evaluate architectures with real operational cost judgment, not just technical performance.

• Fluent Spanish and English.

Bonus points if...

You have worked with semi-real-time or streaming data, you have experience in MLOps (deployment, monitoring, and observability of models in production), you have taken AI projects into production beyond the prototype stage, or you have established data ownership and quality agreements (data contracts) with product or technology teams.

We are looking to bring a Data Engineer into our new Data team, as one of its first hires, reporting directly to the Head of Data.

We are in the midst of deciding the architecture of our data platform, and whoever joins will actively participate in that decision and its implementation.

We are looking for someone with system design judgment, not just execution: someone who knows how to evaluate cost, performance, and operational complexity, and who proposes alternatives instead of merely executing what they are told.

This is a building role: you will be a key piece of the platform, with real weight in architecture decisions and in the foundations upon which our infrastructure will grow.

You will be part of a team that exists to turn business questions into reliable answers and take the product to the next level.

You will design and build Zenova's data platform from end to end, working very closely with Technology, Product, and Business.

You will have the autonomy to decide, document, and evolve the architecture as the team and the company grow.

Platform Architecture

• Design and evaluate the data platform architecture, with real cost-benefit judgment, not just theoretical.

• Propose architectural improvements based on real usage, cost, and emerging business needs, rather than just maintaining what exists.

• Document architecture and design decisions clearly, thinking of a team that will grow progressively.

Pipelines & data quality

• Design and orchestrate end-to-end pipelines (batch and incremental) from our main sources, covering the entire data lifecycle: ingestion, transformation, quality, and publication.

• Define and implement quality and observability standards (tests, alerts, freshness and completeness SLAs) to detect problems before they reach the business.

Metadata & data governance

• Build the metadata and lineage infrastructure that will support the organization's data catalog.

• Design, together with Technology, data contracts and early detection mechanisms for changes in source systems (schema drift monitoring, automated alerts).
