At Accenture, we are looking for a Business & Functional Analyst with knowledge of Mainframe and COBOL to join strategic technological transformation projects, acting as a link between Business, Operations areas, and development teams.

We are looking for a profile with a functional and technical combination: a person capable of understanding business needs, transforming them into functional requirements and solutions, and accompanying them throughout the entire development cycle, but who at the same same time has sufficient knowledge of COBOL and Mainframe environments to understand application logic, analyze incidents, and identify possible errors or points for improvement.

This is not a COBOL development position, but it will be necessary to have experience with this language and be able to read and interpret existing code, understand its logic, and use that knowledge for problem analysis and resolution.

• Collect, analyze, and document business, functional, and operational requirements.
• Understand Business and Operations needs and translate them into clear functional specifications for development teams.
• Prepare and maintain functional documentation (FD) and collaborate in the definition and review of technical documentation (TD).
• Act as a bridge between client, business, and technical teams, ensuring correct interpretation of requirements.
• Participate in the definition of functional and technical solutions, evaluating the impact of changes on existing applications and processes.
• Work with applications developed on Mainframe, COBOL, and DB2, understanding both the functional flow and the technical logic of the solutions.
• Read and interpret COBOL code to analyze application behavior and investigate incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis, helping to identify errors in processes, data, or COBOL logic and defining necessary corrections together with the development team.
• Participate in the identification of improvements and optimizations for existing applications and processes.
• Review proposed solutions and technical documentation generated by development teams.
• Participate in functional, technical, and UAT testing, ensuring that the implemented solution responds to the defined requirements.
• Provide support during releases, deployments, and production implementation windows.
• Collaborate with distributed and offshore technical teams throughout the development cycle.

• Experience in financial services, banking, payment methods, or accounting processes.
• Experience working with COBOL/Mainframe applications in critical environments.
• Ability to combine functional vision and technical understanding, understanding both the business process and the logic of the applications that support it.
• Experience in analysis and resolution of complex problems and production incidents.
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
