To perform the healthcare tasks inherent to a hematologist to provide support to all healthcare processes that can be carried out in a center, the Technical Directorates that may depend on it, and to provide expert advice to all our clients who request it.

1. Provide support to all areas of activity of the BST carried out in your workplace and assigned to you.
2. Ensure the correct application of the healthcare procedures and techniques of the areas of activity assigned to you.
3. Collaborate in the implementation of quality control mechanisms that allow for the proper functioning of the areas of activity and the application of correction or improvement measures that are deemed necessary.
4. Contribute to the proper use of any substances of human origin supplied from the Center through very close collaboration with prescribing physicians.
5. Take responsibility for the transfusion services depending on the BST assigned to you, guaranteeing compliance with current regulations.
6. Participate in the research and investigation activities assigned to you.
7. Be the visible head of the transfusion service in cases of absence of the Head of Center, providing support in technical and healthcare workload functions; these functions DO NOT include:
• Interlocution with the hospital management or technical directorates.
• Decisions relating to the need for human resources.
• Decisions relating to the need for material resources.
• Decisions relating to staff schedule changes to support an activity that arises in an unplanned manner. The Management Head and/or supervisor have full autonomy to act.
• Any other situation not previously contemplated should be brought to the attention of the BST Healthcare Directorate (internal or external catastrophe, etc.)
8. Collaborate in the training and education of the Center's professionals
9. Perform training related to the activity of the Blood and Tissue Bank for the healthcare professionals of the hospital center where you carry out your activity or for the healthcare professionals assigned to you.
10. Verify the assessment of suitability and eligibility, if applicable, of apheresis donors for cells and the indication of different therapeutic apheresis procedures
11. Manage apheresis of progenitor cells and lymphocytes or other therapeutic apheresis procedures assigned to you
12. Manage biovigilance/hemovigilance, evaluating notifications of adverse reactions, analyzing possible origins, and implementing measures for their treatment and subsequent prevention.
13. Actively participate in all those transversal commissions assigned to you (transversal commission of progenitors, etc.), quality meetings (JACIE, CAT, ISO, etc.), and specific work meetings (hematopoietic progenitor transplantation, transfusion, donation, etc.) or commissions of the hospitals where the Center is located.
14. Comply with the functions established by the Prevention, Quality, and Environment Manual.
15. Comply with all those inherent functions and responsibilities of the job position assigned to you.
