The role
At Ceit, we offer the possibility of carrying out a Bachelor's Thesis (TFG) within the Additive Manufacturing and Powder Metallurgy group.
Powder flowability is a critical property in many industries, as it affects the efficiency and quality of additive manufacturing processes. The powder rheometer is a highly versatile instrument designed to evaluate the effect on the ability of metal powder to flow of a wide range of properties such as its morphology, size distribution, interactions between particles... and environmental conditions, such as the presence of air or moisture. By measuring these interrelated properties, it is possible to predict with greater accuracy how a powder will behave in a real industrial process, and thereby optimize the formulations to be used.
What you'll do
The following tasks will be carried out in the project:
- Training for the use of the rheometer: https://www.freemantech.co.uk/powder-testing/ft4-powder-rheometer-powder-flow-tester
- Characterization with the FT4 rheometer of different gas atomized metal powders at Ceit: Density, dynamic flow, compressibility, permeability, cohesion, shear, agglomeration...
- Correlation of the rheological properties of the powder with size, particle size distribution, morphology, presence of surface oxides, moisture... To this end, the student will also become familiar with various techniques, such as optical and scanning electron microscopy, dynamic image analysis, and determination of oxygen and hydrogen concentration.
How you'll work
- Schedule: Winter: 7.75 hours per day. July and August: 6 hours per day (continuous).
- Flexible schedule: entry between 8:00 and 9:30, exit from 16:15 onwards.
- Fridays: possibility of a continuous shift.
Remote work: Option to work remotely 1 day per week.
