CIDETEC Surface Engineering needs to incorporate an expert processes researcher for printed electronics / in-mold electronics, for the development of R&D projects in this field. The candidate must have experience in the industrial field, and demonstrate communication and collaboration skills within the framework of national and international projects.

The selected person will join the Smart & Functional Surfaces Unit of CIDETEC Surface Engineering, working on training and/or technology transfer projects to companies. The Unit is made up of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development of functional coatings and printed electronics, addressing major challenges to respond to industrial demands and European programs.

The selected person must perform the work in such a way that they are capable of carrying out several projects simultaneously, optimizing resources and maximizing results.

The researcher will work autonomously according to the defined work plan.

• Management and planning/execution of R&D projects.
• Direct relationship with clients.
• Reinforcement and promotion of the printed electronics line.
• Analysis of results, report writing, and preparation of presentations.
• Support in the preparation of proposals for R&D project funding applications in regional, national, and European calls.

The person to be incorporated must demonstrate solid knowledge and experience, preferably in industry, in all or some of the following areas and processes:

• Functional printing via screen printing.
• Hybridization of SMD components (Pick & Place).
• Vacuum and/or high-pressure thermoforming.
• Overmolding (FIM and/or IME).
• Optimization of production processes for printed elements at a pre-industrial scale / process standardization.

Knowledge and experience in the following will be valued:

• 2D vector and 3D design (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc).
• Design and validation of the functionality of printed systems such as circuits, sensors, antennas, heaters, etc.
• Design/use of calculation, simulation, etc. tools.
• Characterization of printed layers (thickness measurements, adhesion, electrical conductivity, contact angle, etc.).

A highly motivated person, with an interest in research and innovation, will join a multidisciplinary team. They will be able to organize work while meeting established deadlines and set objectives. Problem-solving capacity and scientific judgment. Good communication skills, both oral and written.
