About the role

🚢 Keep the Heart of the Ship Beating - Engine Crew Wanted! 🔧

Let's face it - without the engine crew, the ship's just a fancy floating hotel. That's where you come in! We're fueling up our talent pool with passionate, certified, and slightly oil-scented professionals for future assignments across the Strait of Gibraltar.

Whether you're a Chief Engineer who runs a tight engine room, a motorman who talks to purifiers, or a cadet still figuring out what half those valves do - you're welcome here.

Position: Open Application - Future Engine Department Roles
Location: Strait of Gibraltar
Vessel-based: Yes - shore beds may be provided (depending on tides and luck)
Contract: Rotational - typically 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off
Apply By: Ongoing - we're always looking for great talent

What you'll get

✔ Stable rotation and fair contracts
✔ A crewing team that's got your back
✔ Career growth with a reputable company
✔ That sweet mix of sea-time and shore-time (if crewing won't ruin your plan)

Hiring process

If you think your personality, skills, experience, and desire match our vision, we'd love to hear from you. Please send us your CV as soon as possible, as we're keen to meet potential candidates on an ongoing basis.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Who We're Looking For

Engine Department crew who can handle the heat (literally).

Officers:
Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, Third Engineer, Fourth Engineer

Ratings:
Motorman, Oiler, Wiper

Cadets:
Engine Cadets with enthusiasm and clean overalls

About You

You don't panic when the alarms beep. You know your way around a toolbox. And you understand that a smoothly running engine room is a beautiful thing (even if it smells like diesel and determination).

You've got:

✅ Valid STCW certificates
✅ MLC-compliant Medical Certificate
✅ Seaman's Book
✅ Passport (you'll need it!)
✅ Engine experience (highly preferred)
✅ FRB certificate (mandatory for Motormen)
✅ Marlins English score (or the ability to explain oil pressure in fluent English)
✅ Team spirit, safety-first mindset, and willingness to ship out when called

Join the Movement - Help Keep Us Running

Engines don't run themselves (yet), so if you're ready to be part of a professional crew where your skills matter - hop aboard.

While you're with us, we want you to develop. At DFDS, we believe that development happens first and foremost through activities in the workplace. We will also offer training courses that can support you in your role, if needed.
