Senior Power Converter Electrical Design Engineer

• Industrial Electrical Engineering or similar, with at least 10 years of experience in the sector (renewables, industry, or equivalent).
• Solid experience in calculation, simulation, and analysis of electrical and electromechanical systems.
• Practical experience in the design and assembly of hardware for power electronics experimental benches.
• Experience in electrical systems, power electronic converters, grid integration, and converter control in LV/MV grids, including renewable energies. Experience working on the design of STATCOMs (topology, filters, losses and cooling, DC Bus, transformer, electromagnetic design, protections, and reliability) will be particularly valued.
• Knowledge of insulation, grounding, protection, and safety aspects in low and medium voltage systems. As well as in the design of high-current busbars in low voltage.
• Knowledge of control systems and converter algorithms, as well as experience in dynamic, stability, and transient studies in electrical grids and the adaptation of installations to the dynamic requirements of grid codes through the use of FACTS (STATCOM, SVC, etc.) and specification analysis.
• Deep knowledge of validation, testing, and certification processes according to applicable regulations.
• Knowledge of functional safety and EMC regulations and requirements applied to converters.
• "Hands-on" experience in product design or prototype development in an industrial environment will be positively valued.
• User-level familiarity with PLC programming environments (for example, Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT, or similar) will be valued, as well as fieldbuses, industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Profibus, Profinet, IEC61850, etc.), and programming in Matlab/Simulink.

• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative work with specialists from different disciplines.
• Ability to negotiate with manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring optimal conditions and components in accordance with project requirements.

• As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of multi-megawatt power electronics converters. This includes the selection, integration, and qualification of components in the field of power converters (power modules, cooling systems, filters, DC bus, transformers), as well as planning and participating in laboratory demonstrations, system testing, and commissioning.
• You will be responsible for the design of connection schematics and layouts, as well as low and medium voltage electrical protection systems.
• You will lead advanced design studies for power electronics STATCOM converters based on optimal topological architectures according to the use case, addressing challenges such as harmonic filter design, loss calculation, noise analysis, system efficiency, and control performance/dynamics.
• You will provide technical advice to those responsible for protections and control systems and contribute to the definition of operational strategies, as well as define test plans for prototypes and actively participate in their validation, testing, and certification processes.
• You will provide support for field activities through the analysis of converter performance and contribution to technical research.
• You must ensure compliance of the design with grid codes and the functionalities required of grid-connected power electronics equipment, as well as international standards.
• You will prepare technical documentation ensuring traceability and support throughout the complete product life cycle.
• You will undertake occasional travel (approx. 10-15% of the time) for field validations or collaborations.
• You will guarantee that health, safety, and environmental sustainability form an integral part of the designs and processes.
• You will identify improvements, resolve technical incidents, and manage risks in the product life cycle.
