  • As an alternative, profiles with advanced experience in Kubernetes may be valued, provided they bring a solid Linux foundation and the capacity to take on OpenShift administration.
  • Experience in cluster administration and advanced-level incident resolution.
  • Knowledge of containers, pods, deployments, operators, persistent storage, networks, and access security.
  • Experience using YAML and command-line tools such as oc and kubectl.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, log management, and performance analysis.
  • Ability to document procedures, configurations, and actions.
  • Technical autonomy, orientation toward operations, and ability to work coordinately with different teams.

Nice to have

  • Ansible and AWX.
  • Docker or Podman.
  • Helm and Kustomize.
  • Prometheus and Grafana.
  • OpenShift Logging, ELK, or Kibana.
  • Nexus, Harbor, or other image repositories.
  • HAProxy, load balancers, and network concepts associated with container platforms.
  • OpenShift Data Foundation or other storage solutions for Kubernetes.
  • Argo CD or GitOps models, solely as complementary knowledge.
  • Red Hat certifications related to Linux, OpenShift, or container administration.
  • Experience working in managed services and using ITIL processes.

The role

At Inetum, we are looking to hire a Senior Linux Systems Administrator specialized in OpenShift to participate in the administration, operation, and evolution of Linux platforms and containers.

The position is not oriented towards application development or the functional definition of microservices. We are looking for a technical infrastructure profile, with practical experience in Linux systems administration and OpenShift platforms, capable of managing the lifecycle of clusters and the components necessary for the deployment and operation of containerized applications.

The selected person will participate in the daily administration of the platform, advanced-level incident resolution, support for deployment processes, management of resources and workloads, and the controlled evolution of the infrastructure.

The reference model used by Inetum contemplates OpenShift as a specialized N2 technological tower, responsible for complex actions, support for changes, deployments, incident resolution, and knowledge transfer to the initial operation levels.

What you'll do

The main responsibilities will be:

Linux systems administration

  • Advanced administration of Linux servers, mainly Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent distributions.
  • Installation, configuration, updating, patching, and maintenance of systems.
  • Diagnosis and resolution of operating system, performance, communications, storage, and service incidents.
  • Administration via command line and task automation using Bash, Shell, or Ansible.
  • Review of logs, processes, services, resource consumption, and system behavior.
  • Application of hardening procedures and administration best practices.

OpenShift administration

  • Administration and support of Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
  • Management of control nodes, worker nodes, infrastructure nodes, and associated resources.
  • Administration of the cluster lifecycle, including updates, patching, and compatibility reviews.
  • Management of projects, namespaces, users, groups, roles, and permissions via RBAC.
  • Administration of operators and components specific to the OpenShift ecosystem.
  • Management of persistent storage, volumes, Storage Classes, and Persistent Volume Claims.
  • Configuration and administration of routes, services, ingress, load balancing, and cluster connectivity.
  • Management of taints, tolerations, affinities, quotas, limits, and resource allocation policies.
  • Review of cluster status, capacity, availability, and performance.
  • Resolution of N2 and N3 level incidents related to OpenShift and Kubernetes.

The experience used internally as a reference for this type of profile includes OpenShift 4.x cluster administration, version updates, N3 support, node administration, OpenShift Logging, Nexus, Prometheus, HAProxy, persistent storage, and automation with Ansible.

Deployment and workload management

  • Technical support to the teams responsible for application deployment.
  • Management and diagnosis of pods, deployments, replicasets, statefulsets, daemonsets, jobs, and cronjobs.
  • Analysis of boot failures, restarts, scheduling problems, and anomalous resource consumption.
  • Management of configurations, secrets, images, and container repositories.
  • Review and application of YAML manifests, Helm Charts, or other deployment mechanisms used in the platform.
  • Support for promotion processes between different environments.
  • Technical validation of deployments and resolution of incidents associated with the infrastructure.
  • Coordination with application, communications, storage, security, and vendor teams.

In current services, OpenShift operation includes deployment support, review of metrics and logs, monitoring of technical components, participation in evolutionary actions, and coordination with teams involved in related applications or services.
