About the role

We are looking for a passionate and highly technical Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our R&D department.

We are not looking for a run-of-the-mill QA or developer: your mission will not be to keep servers alive, but to write code from scratch that "tricks" the system (simulating hardware and AWS/Kafka environments) so that development teams can validate firmware and alarms in a virtualized and efficient environment.

What you'll do

  • Emulator Development: You will design and evolve emulator software in Python to simulate security peripheral devices (sensors, cameras, smoke detectors) communicating over TCP tunnels, replacing all physical RF hardware in the CI environment.
  • Fake Server Construction: You will create and maintain simulated servers (Configuration, FOTA, Media, and Backend protocol simulators) by applying fault injection to perform advanced negative testing.
  • Test Orchestration: You will lead the BDD orchestration engine based on Python and Behave/Gherkin, integrating it directly with Jenkins CI and automatically reporting results to Jira X-Ray.
  • Next-Gen Test Infrastructure: You will simulate AWS IoT Core flows, Apache Kafka / MSK messaging, and interactions with Digital Twins to validate central unit firmware.
  • Continuous Integration: You will organically integrate all these components within multi-stage Jenkins pipelines, covering static analysis, unit testing, builds in virtual environments (Qemu), and regression suites.
  • Innovation with Artificial Intelligence: You will apply AI-assisted code generation with LLMs, anomaly detection, and intelligent fault triage to accelerate execution times and coverage.
  • Exceptional Code Quality: You will ensure strict adherence to clean software development standards (SOLID / KISS / DRY) across the entire test codebase.

Education and Experience

  • Proven Experience: Between 3 and 6 years of experience (ideally around 4 years) in software engineering roles focused on testing, virtualization, or emulation.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English (minimum B2/advanced).

Technical Proficiency (Must-have)

  • Programming Languages: Expert proficiency in Python as the primary language, plus the ability to read and understand firmware specifications in C/C++.
  • Testing and Methodologies: Solid experience with BDD using Behave and writing specifications with Gherkin, managing results in Jira X-Ray or TestRail.
  • CI/CD and Virtualization: Hands-on experience building multi-stage Jenkins pipelines and working with Docker containers and platform virtualization using Qemu.
  • Communication Protocols: Practical knowledge of transport and IoT protocols such as MQTT (paho-mqtt), TCP/IP sockets, mobile communication protocols (GPRS), and proprietary low-level protocols.
  • Cloud and Messaging: Experience integrating architectures with AWS IoT Core, Lambda, SQS, and data streaming with Apache Kafka / MSK.
  • Operating Systems: Strong administration and scripting skills in Linux environments.
  • Applied Artificial Intelligence: Practical experience using LLMs for code generation, anomaly detection, and AI agent architectures.
