About the job

Are you looking for a new challenge?

Fancy helping us shape the future of motor insurance?

Prima could be the place for you.

Since 2015, we've been using our love of data and tech to rethink motor insurance and bring drivers a great experience at a great price. Our story began in Italy, where we've quickly become the number one online motor insurance provider. In fact, we're trusted by over 5 million drivers. And now we're expanding to help millions more drivers in the UK and Spain.

To help fuel that growth, we need a Frontend Software Engineer to join our Design System team.

The Pyxis Team at Prima Assicurazioni develops and maintains the company's Design System, a library of reusable and accessible components that ensure consistency across all digital products.

We support other teams in adopting the system and creating shared components. The design is created in Figma, with foundations built in SASS through internal Design Tokens. Components are developed in React and Elm, while email templates are managed with Parcel.io. Documentation is provided via ZeroHeight for design and through Storybook and Elmbook for code.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain Design System components using best practices in frontend development.
  • Collaborate with Product Designers and Product Managers to ensure consistency and quality of user interfaces.
  • Resolve accessibility issues and ensure all components meet WCAG standards.
  • Document our foundations and components and maintain the developer experience on high level
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, enforce coding standards to maintain code quality and ensure consistent practices across the team
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, ensuring timely resolution and optimal performance
  • Contribute to the stabilization of visual tests and automation of development processes

What we're looking for

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML
  • Excellent knowledge of CSS, preferably SASS2
  • Excellent knowledge of accessibility (WCAG) rules applied to frontend
  • Good knowledge of Design Systems / component library
  • Good knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript and React
  • Good knowledge of UX and design topics applied to frontend
  • Good knowledge of testing strategy and frontend tests
  • Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
  • Experience in maintaining and writing documentation
  • Flexibility in learning new technologies (like: Elm / Web Components)

Nice to have

  • Professional experience with Elm
  • Professional experience with WebComponents
  • Professional experience with Design Tokens
