Data Reliability Engineer

From Q-Tech, we are looking for a Staff Data Reliability Engineer to join a leading European company in the e-commerce and home improvement sector. This company is investing in building a robust and scalable data infrastructure to support its growing operations across multiple markets

About the Role:

As a Staff Data Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance data systems. Your expertise will help ensure reliability, scalability, and optimal performance of the data infrastructure while driving continuous improvements in automation and observability

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain large-scale, resilient data infrastructure
• Monitor and troubleshoot data systems, proactively implementing solutions to prevent future issues
• Develop and maintain documentation for data systems and processes
• Lead and organize projects in collaboration with the Platform Manager:
  • Define targets and roadmaps with architects and key engineers
  • Make architecture decisions and prioritize technical tasks
  • Support teams in achieving objectives
• Evangelize best practices and contribute to building a strong technical community
• Drive organizational improvements by identifying and implementing innovative solutions

Required Skills & Experience:

Soft Skills:

• Proactive, bold, and analytical mindset with the ability to identify and address challenges
• Curious and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
• Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor and train others in data and platform best practices

Hard Skills:

• Deep expertise in large-scale data infrastructure, databases, and DevOps automation
• Strong SQL skills for querying, managing, and optimizing database performance
• Experience with database management systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL; NoSQL is a plus
• Knowledge of event-driven systems like Kafka; RabbitMQ is a plus
• Understanding of backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity
• Knowledge of database security best practices, including user access controls and encryption
• Experience in monitoring management, defining SLOs/SLAs, and measuring feature impact
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform)
• Strong understanding of cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, etc.)
• Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus

Other Requirements:

• Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in web technologies and data infrastructure
• Fluent in English (verbal and written); Spanish or French is a plus
• Solid understanding of operations and reliability engineering principles
