About the role

At Sener Aerospace & Defence, the sustained growth of our Space and Defence programmes is leading us to continue expanding our team. We are looking to bring on board a senior Hardware Development profile for our work centres in Tres Cantos (Madrid) or Getxo (Biscay), someone who wants to be part of a stage of clear technological and industrial expansion.

You will take part in strategic Space and Defence projects, developing high-reliability electronic equipment that forms part of critical systems for institutional missions and leading-edge defence programmes. This is a position of significant technical weight, designed for professionals who enjoy designing, making technological decisions and supporting the growth of less experienced engineers, without stepping away from hands-on technical work.

You will work in a demanding and collaborative technical environment, as part of a multidisciplinary team where technical expertise is combined with the ability to share knowledge and lead by example. You will maintain an active role in design, while also providing technical judgement in key project decision-making.

What you'll do

What you will do:

You will be part of the multidisciplinary team (hardware, control, software and mechanics) that develops electronic control equipment for antenna pointing systems, robotic docking and anchoring systems, and telescope focusing and scanning systems, among others; taking part in highly demanding projects from the initial phases through to final validation.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse and break down system and equipment requirements, actively participating in the definition of technical solutions compatible with Space and Defence standards.

  • Carry out the detailed electronic design of equipment, both at schematic level and providing technical support for the placement and routing of PCBs.

  • Perform analogue and digital simulations, evaluating design behaviour across different operating scenarios.

  • Define and review hardware validation procedures, ensuring compliance with functional, environmental and reliability requirements.

  • Execute functional equipment tests and take part in environmental test campaigns (thermal, vibration, etc.), collaborating on the analysis of results.

  • Prepare and maintain the associated technical documentation for the development (design, validation, technical justifications, reports and project deliverables).

  • Take part in technical reviews with the customer, contributing technical judgement and experience to design decision-making.

  • Act as the technical reference within the team, supporting less experienced profiles and contributing to the overall technical coherence of the project, while always maintaining direct involvement in the design.

What you'll get

These are some of the benefits you will enjoy at Sener:

  • Join a multidisciplinary, highly qualified team participating in technologically innovative projects at an international level.

  • Continue your professional development with us and access a wide range of training (technical training, skills, languages...).

  • Take care of yourself with our physical and emotional wellness program: sports, workshops, medical service, physiotherapy, etc.

  • Optimize your salary with our flexible compensation plan (meal card, private health insurance, childcare vouchers...) and have our life and accident insurance.

  • Make your way of working more flexible! We offer flexible hours, a remote work policy, coworking spaces...

  • Discount portal for you and a specific onboarding plan for our international employees.

  • We promote equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion for all people and we are certified as a Family-Responsible Entity (efr). Furthermore, through the Sener Foundation we collaborate in activities that foster the pursuit of knowledge and contribute to the socially responsible development of engineering.

We offer you the chance to join an environment in full expansion, with access to strategic projects and long-term career progression. At Sener, the professional development of technical profiles does not mean leaving engineering behind: we foster career paths where deep knowledge and technical experience remain the central focus of growth.

What we expect from you

We are looking for a senior profile with a solid technical foundation, who wants to continue developing in the design of hardware for complex Space and Defence systems, and who enjoys sharing knowledge and providing technical judgement within the team. We particularly value professionals who want to combine technical depth with active participation in design decisions and in supporting less experienced profiles.

Essential requirements:

  • University degree in Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.

  • Advanced level of English.

  • At least 8 years of experience in similar electronic hardware development positions.

  • Demonstrable experience in detailed design of analogue and power circuits, as well as in the design of digital circuits, including communication buses, memories and FPGAs.

Additionally, knowledge of the following will be valued: actuators and sensors; motor control design; PCB design... as well as tools such as (Matlab / Simulink), Altium, Pspice/LTspice, VHDL, C, C++, Matlab/Simulink, Python and Labview.

Not to mention, the analysis methodology for defence and space (Parts Stress Analysis (PSA), Worst Case Analysis (WCA), Reliability, FMECA, fault tree analysis, Radiation...).
