What we're looking for

The candidate must have between 10 and 15 years of experience in the design of unit operations such as leaching, solvent extraction, electrodeposition/electrolysis, effluent treatment, and solid-liquid separation, as well as in technology scale-up activities from laboratory and pilot plant to demonstration or commercial plants. Experience in facility start-ups, development of proprietary technologies, resolution of operational issues, and work in multidisciplinary engineering teams will be especially valued. Minimum English level: B2.

Nice to have

• Demonstrable experience in scaling technologies from laboratory and pilot plant to demonstration or commercial plants, including design, operation, results analysis, and incident resolution activities.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (technical and commercial).
• Experience in technical interaction with suppliers, review of technical bids, equipment evaluation, and manufacturing follow-up.
• Experience with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HSC, MetSim, or similar) will be valued, as will experience with CFD modeling and simulation tools (COMSOL, Floworks, or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, MS Project, and an advanced level of Excel (including automation through macros/VBA).
• Knowledge of material selection for corrosive service and definition of technical specifications for equipment and piping.

The role

Position location: Process Development and Implementation at the Técnicas Reunidas Technology Center (San Fernando de Henares).

What you'll do

Specific duties:
• Ensure quality in the performance of all work related to the assigned activities of the different projects. Collaborate in the distribution of tasks within the team and supervise the work carried out.
• Identify and request the resources needed to carry out the work.
• Foster a good working environment.
• Stay up to date with technological developments and innovations related to the projects in which you participate.

Basic duties
• Collaborate in preparing work schedules with the Project Management.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvement, optimization, and innovation in the projects to which you are assigned.
• Among others, prepare and/or supervise mass and energy balances; develop process diagrams (block diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs), as well as supervise them when applicable; prepare line lists, instrument lists, and complete data sheets; prepare and supervise layout drawings.
• Prepare procedures, operating manuals, and activity reports.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings for technical decision-making, as well as to the search for suppliers.
• Participate in process development as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide an industrial and/or scale-up perspective.
• Liaise with external companies to coordinate subcontracted work and/or follow up on orders.
• Participate in preparing operating manuals.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing.
• Provide support for start-ups, both of pilot facilities and at plant level (low frequency of travel).
• Participate in preparing commercial bids.
