Operating Room Nurse

The main mission will be to guarantee the provision of Nursing care to patients treated in the Surgical Block, Ensuring the proper reception, preparation, care, and recovery of the patient in relation to their surgical intervention, as well as ensuring the stock of necessary medications and materials.

1. Receive the patient and carry out the preparations for the surgical, diagnostic, and/or therapeutic techniques required.
2. Manage the relationship with the patient effectively, appropriately managing possible situations of anxiety or stress.
3. Identify and ensure the processing of tissue and/or fluid samples for the Laboratory. Record in the nursing log the processing of samples and/or requests for diagnostic tests and the receipt of results (not the values).
4. Administer prescribed or protocolized pharmacological treatments in a standardized manner and perform the nursing therapeutic procedures prescribed by the doctor or protocolized. Record in the nursing log both the procedures performed and the results obtained, as well as any noteworthy related incidents.
5. Supervise the recovery and provide adequate care to recently operated patients. Monitoring the evolution of the surgical act through the control of bleeding and the response to the medication and/or therapeutic techniques administered.
6. Alert the relevant physician of any significantly negative change in the patient's situation.
7. Maintain contact with the patient's relatives to inform them about their recovery status.
8. Control the expiration status of the necessary medications and ensure their stock.
9. Maintain the good condition of the necessary materials and ensure their stock. Replenishment of gauze stock and control of surgical material.
10. Provide support in possible complex situations, and collaborate with anesthetic techniques. If necessary, performing emergency procedures as directed by the Surgical Block Supervisor.
