The role

Ready to join one of our Airbus Programs in Spain?

AIRBUS offers an internship (curricular practicum) program aimed at students who are in the last year of their degree with the main objective of acquiring professional skills through the development of a project in the company.

What do we offer?:

Internship (curricular practicum) program + Bachelor's Degree Final Project (TFG).

Mission: You will prepare a final year training project that will allow you to complete your official studies.

About practical training:

  • 6 months of curricular practicum at AIRBUS from February to July 2027
  • Part time: 5h / day - 25 hours per week (8h-13h)
  • Tutor assignment for continuous monitoring

Final project (TFG) to be carried out by the student:

  • The objective of this TFG will be to carry out the structural design of an unmanned vehicle (UAV) for the subsequent manufacture of a non-functional scaled model of the same.
  • To this end, CAD-type tools and FEM simulation will be used to reduce weight and costs, as well as to simplify assembly. Once the final design is selected, the manufacture of prototypes will be carried out using the means existing in ProtoSpace. The materials to be used may combine the use of metal, wood, 3D printing, and composite materials. For the manufacture of the prototype, help will be provided by qualified workshop personnel. During the course of the project, different prototypes will have to be made to validate assembly concepts as well as tests to evaluate their structural capacity.
  • The first step will be the evaluation of requirements as well as the analysis of the risks and opportunities of the project. Take into account the different nature of the requirements (structural, fatigue, manufacturability, etc.) as well as the selection of the different means of verification that will have to be applied. In the second stage, preliminary design studies will be carried out using CAD tools.
  • Subsequently, the detailed design will be carried out along with FEM simulations to validate the design and verify compliance with structural integrity requirements. During this stage, prototypes will be manufactured to validate different design and assembly concepts, whenever necessary. Finally, the manufacture of the components and assembly of the different parts will proceed, verifying the requirements during the process. To carry out these prototypes, the student will be introduced to the different manufacturing techniques available in protospace such as machining, laser cutting, turning, wire cutting, additive manufacturing, and composite material manufacturing, among others.
  • The student will also be asked to analyze alternative manufacturing methods not currently available in the department in order to increase the portfolio of available rapid manufacturing means. To do this, they will not only need to know the different methods and machinery used, but also the availability of materials as well as the particularities of each technology in order to carry out the appropriate designs (Design for Manufacturing).
  • The TFG will be both a theoretical and practical combination, therefore a very active disposition towards rapid prototyping and alternative manufacturing methods is required.
  • The main deliverables will be:- CAD design of the different models.- Analysis of the different manufacturing techniques and justified selection of the techniques to be used along with the trade-offs.- FEM analysis with corresponding justification of the different models.- Manufacture of the different prototypes.- Descriptive study (economic and timing) of the decisions made in the selection of materials, as well as forms and problems encountered during the course of the project.
