About the role

Our maintenance and reliability engineering team is a key part of Amazon's commitment to innovation. This team ensures that the tools and technologies we use evolve and adapt to changes at the same pace as Amazon. As a senior maintenance and reliability engineering technician, you will help us stay one step ahead by adopting the latest technologies and identifying new, more efficient ways of working. In this role, you will pay special attention to our occupational health and safety processes to help meet the demanding standards we adhere to and implement improvements to continue advancing.

What you'll do

Key job responsibilities

  • Apply best practices in the safe use of equipment and supervise staff to ensure that everyone follows occupational health and safety procedures correctly.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and periodic audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensure the safe performance of devices through visual checks, status controls, and preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with occupational risk prevention regulations.
  • Supervise on-duty technical staff to support their development in safety matters and act as the first point of contact for WHS issues related to maintenance and reliability teams.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to reduce downtime, always prioritizing people's safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Help find ways to continuously improve safety and health management systems, standardizing WHS processes and standards across the EU network.

A day in the life

You will be responsible for overseeing processes to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, as well as ensuring that the relevant preventive maintenance is carried out to increase the safe uptime of equipment.

Based on what you observe during your shifts, you will propose improvements aimed at increasing the safety, efficiency, and productivity of our systems and, later, implement these changes across all our EU sites.

What we're looking for

  • Relevant experience in the field of automation or with material handling equipment, with a focus on safe operation.
  • High school diploma.
  • Previous relevant experience in a technical management role with responsibilities in occupational health and safety.
  • Relevant experience in risk identification and application of preventive measures in industrial or logistics environments.
  • Knowledge of occupational risk prevention regulations and safety procedures (LOTO, work permits, risk assessments).
  • Advanced level of Spanish, both oral and written, and basic knowledge of English.

Nice to have

  • Experience in conducting safety audits and managing corrective action plans in environments with multiple contractors and at different locations.
  • Knowledge of machine safety regulatory requirements (CE marking, machinery directives).
  • Experience in handling occupational health and safety management IT systems (incident registration, accident investigation, planning of preventive actions).
  • University degree, preferably in a technical discipline, occupational risk prevention or safety engineering.
  • Specific training in occupational risk prevention (Advanced Technician in OHS or equivalent).
