About the role

CIC energiGUNE is offering internship opportunities for Master's students in the field of electrochemical energy storage and conversion (EES) and thermal energy storage and conversion (TES). If you want to join a young, dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team, learn from world-renowned scientists and use state-of-the-art equipment and technology, this is your opportunity!

Applications are open to students from areas such as materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering or related fields who wish to develop their research skills.

These are projects to be carried out as Master's internships for approximately 5-6 months.

RESEARCH AREA AND TOPICS

Projects in the area of Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion:

  • Gas-phase surface functionalization of sodium layered oxides for moisture-resistant sodium-ion cathodes
  • Evaluation of thermal safety at the material level of commercial sodium-ion batteries using reproducible DSC protocols
  • New polymer gel electrolytes based on single lithium-ion conductors for high-voltage, high-power LiM batteries
  • New solvents for LiM and sodium-ion batteries
  • Multiscale simulation and validation of battery electrode calendering for Digital Twin development
  • Synthesis of new polyanionic compounds for sodium-ion batteries

Projects in the area of Thermal Energy Storage and Conversion:

  • Biopolymer fibers with phase change materials, PCM, for thermal management

  • Electrification of gas-solid thermochemical reactions based on metal oxides
