Global Solutions Architect - Google Cloud & AWS

BBVA is looking for a Global Solutions Architect to act as a strategic bridge between technology and business. This role is a high-impact position within the bank's technology ecosystem, responsible for translating business needs into coherent, scalable solution architectures aligned with BBVA's global standards.

The architect does not operate at the implementation level: their value lies in systemic vision, the ability to engage with complex stakeholders, and the quality of high-level technical design.

•  Design high-level architectures covering data, integration, backend, APIs, and platform layers, ensuring end-to-end coherence.

•  Define architectural patterns and reference frameworks applicable to multiple initiatives or business domains.

•  Evaluate technology options (Public Cloud, Hybrid, etc.) and develop well-founded recommendations based on trade-off analyses.

•  Ensure proposed architectures comply with security, resilience, scalability, and governance standards.

•  Act as the primary interface between functional teams, business areas, and technology organizations, facilitating mutual understanding between non-technical profiles and engineering teams.

•  Lead discovery sessions, architecture workshops, and design reviews with senior stakeholders, both internal and from product and operations areas.

•  Communicate architectural decisions clearly and adapt the message to diverse audiences.

•  Draft and maintain high-quality technical and functional requirements, ensuring traceability from business needs to technical solutions.

•  Produce architecture documentation (C4 diagrams, context views, integration, data) as reference artifacts for delivery teams.

•  Participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) processes or equivalent internal bodies, providing a cross-cutting and global perspective.

•  Contribute to the evolution of the technology roadmap in coordination with platform, data, and application domains within the bank.

•  Identify architectural risks, structural technical debt, and opportunities for simplification or modernization.

•  Stay up to date with financial sector trends (open banking, cloud, AI/data platforms, technology regulation) and translate their impact into design decisions.

•  4+ years of experience in solution architecture roles, enterprise architecture, or similar high-level technical design positions.

•  Previous experience in highly complex organizational environments: banking, fintech, telecom, or other globally regulated industries.

•  Demonstrable track record in designing multi-layered solutions (integration, data, backend, cloud) within digital transformation or legacy modernization contexts.

Technical Knowledge (conceptual and design-level, not implementation)

•  Integration and APIs: Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP), event-driven architectures (EDA), API Management, ESB/middleware, REST/AsyncAPI standards.

•  Data: high-level data architectures (data lakehouse, data mesh, streaming vs. batch), data governance, lineage, and data quality.

•  Cloud and Platform: architecture fundamentals in multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP), containers and orchestration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts, and platform engineering.

•  Backend and Applications: microservices, distributed architectures, resilience patterns (circuit breaker, saga, CQRS), and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) as a design tool.

•  Security: secure design principles (zero trust, IAM, encryption in transit/at rest), GDPR, and applicable regulatory frameworks for the financial sector.

•  Hands-on experience with Google Cloud and AWS.

•  Abstraction and synthesis skills: the ability to distill complex requirements into clear, structured solutions.

•  Executive communication: confidence in presenting and defending architectural proposals to non-technical profiles, with autonomy and credibility.

•  Systemic thinking and business impact orientation, going beyond technical excellence for its own sake.

•  Ability to influence without hierarchical authority in matrixed and global environments.

•  Product mindset and value-delivery orientation, with the capacity to prioritize in highly ambiguous contexts.

•  Diseñar arquitecturas de alto nivel que cubran las capas de datos, integración, backend, APIs y plataforma, asegurando coherencia end-to-end.

•  Definir patrones arquitectónicos y marcos de referencia aplicables a múltiples iniciativas o dominios de negocio.

•  Evaluar opciones tecnológicas (Ether, Cloud Publica, híbrido) y elaborar recomendaciones fundamentadas con análisis de trade-offs.

•  Garantizar que las arquitecturas propuestas cumplan con los estándares de seguridad, resiliencia, escalabilidad y gobierno de BBVA.

•  Actuar como interfaz principal entre equipos funcionales, áreas de negocio y la organización tecnológica, facilitando el entendimiento mutuo entre perfiles no técnicos y equipos de ingeniería.

•  Liderar sesiones de discovery, talleres de arquitectura y revisiones de diseño con stakeholders senior, tanto internos como de áreas de producto y operaciones.

•  Comunicar decisiones de arquitectura de forma clara y adaptada a audiencias diversas.

•  Redactar y mantener requerimientos técnicos y funcionales de alta calidad, asegurando trazabilidad desde la necesidad de negocio hasta la solución técnica.

•  Producir documentación de arquitectura (diagramas C4, vistas de contexto, integración, datos) como artefactos de referencia para los equipos de entrega.

•  Participar en los procesos de Architecture Review Board (ARB) o equivalentes internos, aportando visión transversal y global.

•  Contribuir a la evolución del roadmap tecnológico en coordinación con los dominios de plataforma, datos y aplicaciones del banco.

•  Identificar riesgos arquitectónicos, deuda técnica estructural y oportunidades de simplificación o modernización.

•  Mantenerse actualizado en tendencias del sector financiero (open banking, cloud, AI/data platforms, regulación tecnológica) y trasladar su impacto a decisiones de diseño.

•  4+ años de experiencia en roles de arquitectura de soluciones, arquitectura empresarial o roles similares de diseño técnico de alto nivel.

•  Experiencia previa en entornos de gran complejidad organizativa: banca, fintech, telco u otras industrias reguladas a escala global.

•  Historial demostrable de diseño de soluciones con múltiples capas (integración, datos, backend, cloud) en contextos de transformación digital o modernización de sistemas legacy.

•  Integración y APIs: patrones de integración empresarial (EIP), arquitecturas orientadas a eventos (EDA), API Management, ESB/middleware, estándares REST/AsyncAPI.

•  Datos: arquitecturas de datos a alto nivel (data lakehouse, data mesh, streaming vs. batch), gobernanza del dato, lineage y calidad.

•  Cloud y plataforma: fundamentos de arquitectura en entornos multi-cloud (AWS, GCP), contenedores y orquestación, conceptos de IaC y platform engineering.

•  Backend y aplicaciones: microservicios, arquitecturas distribuidas, patrones de resiliencia (circuit breaker, saga, CQRS), DDD como herramienta de diseño.

•  Seguridad: principios de diseño seguro (zero trust, IAM, cifrado en tránsito/reposo), GDPR y marcos regulatorios aplicables al sector financiero.

•  Experiencia con Google Cloud y AWS.

•  Capacidad de abstracción y síntesis: habilidad para destilar requerimientos complejos en soluciones claras y estructuradas.

•  Comunicación ejecutiva: soltura para presentar y defender propuestas de arquitectura ante perfiles no técnicos con autonomía y credibilidad.

•  Pensamiento sistémico y orientación al impacto de negocio, más allá de la excelencia técnica en sí misma.

•  Capacidad de influencia sin autoridad jerárquica en entornos matriciales y globales.

•  Mentalidad de producto y orientación a la entrega de valor, con capacidad de priorizar en entornos de alta ambigüedad.
