About the role

At Exlabesa, we are looking for a Foundry Technician to join our team on-site at one of our production plants. We are seeking a technical profile with knowledge of aluminum metallurgy and a passion for optimizing industrial processes, who wants to develop their career in an internationally renowned industrial company.

To be part of the foundry technical team, ensuring the stability of the aluminum billet manufacturing process, improving product quality, productivity, and plant efficiency.

What you'll do

  • To provide technical support for the melting, maintenance, and continuous casting processes.
  • To supervise and optimize manufacturing parameters.
  • To carry out billet quality controls: metallographic analysis, ultrasonic testing, and visual inspection, using calipers, rulers, protractors, tape measures, etc.
  • To analyze production incidents and define corrective and preventive actions.
  • To collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Laboratory departments in resolving process issues.
  • To participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing metal yield, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing rejects.
  • To analyze production indicators (OEE, productivity, metal yield, energy consumption, and quality).
  • To prepare records and reports related to production, spectrometer results, quantities, temperatures, and chemical compositions of daily casts.
  • To manage and update records of scrap, alloying materials, and billets, as well as a summary of breakdowns and production forecasts, among others.
  • To perform weekly cleaning and calibration of spectrometers.

Required profile

  • A degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience in industrial processes, preferably in aluminum foundry.
  • Knowledge of: Aluminum metallurgy. Extrusion alloys (6xxx series). Melting, refining, and degassing processes. Metallurgical quality control. Data analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with computer tools.
  • Analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to work in a team.

The following will be especially valued

  • Experience in aluminum foundries or extrusion plants.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 and IATF 16949).
