The role

Do you enjoy solving technical challenges and seeing your work move from plans and designs to equipment running on the factory floor? Join Ford's Manufacturing Engineering team and help prepare our plants for new programs, product launches and engineering changes.

As a VME Engineering Technician, you'll coordinate facilities, equipment and process projects from technical definition through installation, validation and handover to Production. You'll work across teams and with suppliers to deliver safe, reliable and efficient manufacturing solutions-supporting areas such as Assembly, Paint and Body as project needs require.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate equipment, facilities, tooling and process projects through planning, design, procurement, installation, trials, acceptance and handover.
  • Review technical requirements, designs and plant layouts to help ensure new or modified solutions fit production needs.
  • Plan installation and start-up activities, coordinating resources, materials, utilities and work sequences.
  • Work with Purchasing, suppliers, contractors and internal teams to support quotations, procurement, cost estimates and project delivery.
  • Monitor schedules, milestones, costs, risks and open actions, helping teams address issues and keep projects moving.
  • Coordinate equipment installation and modifications involving systems such as automation, robots, sensors, electrical equipment and tooling.
  • Support trials and acceptance activities, assessing factors such as cycle time, repeatability, capability and equipment availability.
  • Identify equipment, process and quality issues, coordinate problem-solving and track corrective actions through closure.
  • Make safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements part of the project from the start, including risk reviews and contractor coordination.
  • Help stabilize production after launch and ensure documentation and technical knowledge are handed over effectively to Plant, Maintenance and Production.
  • Share lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
