Senior Edge Software Engineer – Intelligence of Things

To work in this team you will need:

• A University Degree and Master's in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or Electronics (or related areas) is essential.
• Experience in application development in Linux environments.
• Experience in project management.
• Proficiency in C++ programming and a sensitivity toward performance and efficient resource usage.
• Knowledge of AI (models, training and inference frameworks, deployment on devices).
• Eagerness to learn, autonomy, and the ability to work in a team.
• Sufficient level of English to work with technical documentation and communicate in international environments.

• An indefinite contract from Monday to Friday, along with a flexible schedule and a very [incomplete source text] calendar.
• Possibility of working 2 days from the Bilbao headquarters, up to two days of teleworking, and one day of the week, team day, in Mondragón.

We are looking for someone who enjoys seeing how their software reaches a real machine, with limited resources, and also executes AI on it.

You will be part of the Intelligence of Things team, specialized in developing platforms and software for edge devices. Edge devices are systems that process data where it is generated, within the product itself or on the machine, with limited computing, memory, and energy resources.

In the team, we design and develop the software that runs on these devices and connects them with public and private clouds and with other devices, either wired or wireless, from the platform and middleware layer to the applications that exploit the data, such as visualization. We work on Linux and C++, and we bring our solutions to real hardware and to projects with industrial clients. One of the most demanding challenges is executing AI, including generative AI, directly at the edge, and for that, we build the software base that allows it to be deployed, orchestrated, and evaluated on each device.

• Design and lead the development of edge software and platforms in C++ on Linux, defining efficient and maintainable architectures for resource-limited systems.
• Define the integration of edge devices with public and private clouds and with other devices, whether wired or wireless, and of the applications that exploit the data.
• Optimize software performance and enable the efficient execution of AI models, including generative AI, on these devices.
• Lead the deployment, validation, and evaluation of solutions on real hardware, establishing good quality and testing practices.
• Technically lead projects with industrial clients, from requirements to the transfer of results.
• Contribute to the definition of research proposals and to national and European research projects, providing technical vision and effort estimation.
• Document technical work and contribute to deliverables, demonstrators and, where appropriate, publications and open-source communities.
