Requirements
What we're looking for
Demonstrable experience in the technical management of applied research projects in AI, including collaborative projects or those developed with companies.
Ability to define research objectives, coordinate teams, and translate scientific results into practical applications.
Technical experience in at least one of these areas: generative models and language models, AI agent-based systems, or reinforcement learning.
Solid knowledge of machine learning and deep learning, and programming experience in Python.
Experience in the preparation of proposals, reports, or scientific-technical publications.
Nice to have
PhD in Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
Experience in generative AI, agent architectures, reinforcement learning.
Participation in or leadership of European projects and knowledge of their funding programs.
Experience in consortium coordination, project acquisition, or the opening of new research lines.
Scientific publications, technology transfer, and collaboration with companies.
Ability to take initiative, strategic vision, and skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Education & certifications
Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications Engineering, or another related discipline.
Languages
Proficiency in Spanish and English, both oral and written.

The role
At TECNALIA, we are looking for a person with experience in applied research and R&D project management to join our Artificial Intelligence team. Their mission will be to drive new research lines, lead projects, and convert scientific advances into solutions for companies and organizations.
They will work in an international and multidisciplinary environment, alongside specialists from TECNALIA and collaborating entities. They will tackle challenges in sectors such as industry, energy, information technology, and the public sector.
What you'll do
They will lead the scientific and technological aspects of AI R&D projects, defining the research strategy and validating solutions. They will collaborate with project management teams in the planning and monitoring of milestones.
They will define and develop research lines, with special attention to generative AI, AI agents, and reinforcement learning.
They will design and validate AI solutions for real-world problems, from the formulation of the challenge to the evaluation of results.
They will identify funding opportunities and collaborate in the preparation of proposals for national and European programs, as well as collaboration proposals with companies
They will establish collaborations with universities, technological centers, and industrial partners.
They will mentor professionals with less experience and contribute to the scientific and technical development of the team.
They will communicate results through publications, technical reports, and dissemination activities.
