Being You
The role
What you'll do
- Define, deploy, and evolve the tower's FinOps operating model in Iberia: service catalog, roles, processes, RACI, and governance cadence (operational and executive committees).
- Direct, coordinate, and mentor the FinOps Engineers and Analysts team, managing their capacity, training and certification plan, and assignment to different accounts.
- Perform FinOps maturity assessments (Crawl / Walk / Run) for clients and design roadmaps to advance each of the FinOps Framework capabilities.
- Act as the primary interlocutor for Finance, Procurement, Architecture, and Engineering stakeholders at the client, aligning budget, spend forecasting, and business objectives.
- Define the commitment strategy (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Azure Reservations, CUDs) and supervise their coverage, utilization, and effective savings metrics.
- Provide support in negotiating agreements with hyperscalers (AWS EDP / Private Pricing, Microsoft MACC, Google Cloud Commit) and in licensing optimization (BYOL, Azure Hybrid Benefit).
- Technically validate the team's optimization recommendations and participate in architecture reviews to ensure cost-aware designs without compromising reliability or performance.
- Drive a culture of shared cost responsibility (accountability) within engineering teams, incorporating shift-left practices into IaC and CI/CD cycles.
- Design the cost data architecture: ingestion of billing sources from each provider (AWS CUR 2.0, Azure Cost Management Exports, GCP Billing Export), normalization under the FOCUS specification, and enrichment with business data (CMDB, cost centers, tags).
- Lead the construction of the analytical platform (BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric / Synapse, Athena / Redshift, Snowflake, or Databricks) and the dimensional data model that supports showback and chargeback.
- Define the KPI catalog (unit cost, commitment coverage, percentage of allocated spend, actual vs. identified savings, deviation from forecast) and dashboards by audience: executive, financial, and technical.
- Develop forecasting and anomaly detection capabilities based on statistical or machine learning models, and guarantee data quality, traceability, and governance.
- Collaborate with sales and pre-sales teams in defining proposals, sizing FinOps services, and presenting business cases to clients in Iberia.
- Extend the practice's scope beyond the public cloud (SaaS, licensing, data center, and AI / LLM consumption), in line with the evolution of the FinOps Framework towards the concept of Scopes.
- Stay at the forefront of the discipline, evaluate new tools and services, and represent the practice in internal and external forums.
