Python & AI Backend Engineer - Agentic AI Platform

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, working intensively in Python in large-scale production environments.
• Backend development profile with extensive knowledge in the use of LLMs (advanced prompting, model API integration, RAG, agent frameworks). We are not looking for a data scientist or a model research/training profile.
• Demonstrated experience in more than 10 complex backend projects where the technical system design (services, integrations, data model, communication patterns) has been defined from scratch.
• Demonstrated experience in at least two real projects where artificial intelligence solutions (language models, agent frameworks, AI API integration, RAG, or similar) have been integrated into production systems, not just in proofs of concept.
• Knowledge and experience with process and agent orchestration solutions, such as LangChain, LangGraph, Temporal, or similar.
• Knowledge and real experience using cloud services (AWS and Azure) to deploy and operate applications in production, as well as with container-based environments (Docker, Kubernetes). We are not looking for an infrastructure profile, but for someone who knows how to use these services fluently for their own development.
• Demonstrable track record of making system design decisions with medium and long-term impact, while remaining active in day-to-day development, not just in design or supervision tasks.
• Strong experience using AI agents in backend construction, as well as developing with development agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, or OpenHands.
• Autonomy and real experience moving between high-level technical design and direct implementation within the same project.
• Experience in microservices architecture definition, APIs, and integration patterns in distributed systems.
• Experience with Spec Driven Development (SDD) methodology.
• High level of English (C1), with the ability to collaborate in international projects and teams.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with stakeholders at different levels.
• Proactive attitude and strong orientation toward problem solving.
• Skills in communication, with the ability to adapt the message to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Genuine technological curiosity and capacity for continuous learning.

Additionally, we will value:

• Experience with Spring.
• Experience with event-oriented architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, or similar).
• Experience in API design (OpenAPI, gRPC) and automated testing in Python (pytest).
• Experience using observability tools like Dynatrace to understand application behavior in production (the Dynatrace solution is managed by another team; here, knowing how to interpret and use it in day-to-day work is valued).
• Certifications in AWS and/or Azure.
• Having participated in a project involving the generation of knowledge graphs (functional and technical) to model and map out the processes of a solution.
• Previous experience of at least 2 years in software lifecycle automation projects or developer tools.

The project...

Design and build the intelligent backend of an agentic platform that is going to change how software is developed at Mapfre.

In the Corporate Technology Area, Reef Lab team, we are looking for someone with a big-picture vision and hands in the code: someone capable of designing robust solutions in Python that integrate AI agents, and of sustaining them on a solid cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure. A role designed for someone who enjoys both deciding the technical design and implementing it. We are looking for a backend developer profile with extensive knowledge in the use of LLMs, not a data scientist or machine learning research profile.

What exactly is this platform? It is a proprietary Mapfre product that covers the software development lifecycle from end to end: specialized AI agents help define and complete project requirements, generate and review code, build interfaces, and execute testing automatically. The goal is to accelerate each of those phases by leveraging AI agents, and to become Mapfre's internal standard for developing AI-assisted software.

In this role, you will not only build the platform itself: you will also build and maintain the AI agents responsible for generating the backends of the projects developed using it, and you will provide technical support to teams in different countries that use them.

This platform is not limited to a single market: it is designed to be deployed in all the countries where Mapfre has a presence. Whoever joins will be part of a project with true international scope, with a direct impact on teams and users across multiple geographies, and with the professional projection that entails.

• Design and develop in Python the services and components that bring the platform's AI agents to life.
• Build and maintain the AI agents in charge of generating the backends of the projects developed using the platform.
• Define the cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure) that supports the platform, focusing on scalability, security, and cost.
• Make significant technical decisions regarding how the system design evolves, without ceasing to be present in the day-to-day development.
• Integrate AI models and services into real software development workflows.
• Collaborate with other technical profiles to guarantee the end-to-end coherence of the platform.
• Review and mentor the code of other Python profiles on the team, raising the technical level of the group.
• Provide technical support to teams in different countries building projects using the platform.
