About the role

Do you want to help transform the future of sustainable fishing through technology?

At Marine Industries, we have spent more than 30 years developing technological solutions that help make fishing activity more efficient, safer, and more sustainable. We are an international company based in Galicia and a global benchmark in the development of technology for tropical tuna fishing.

Now we are taking the next step.

We are looking for someone to lead our strategic vision in sustainability and become the company's benchmark in the major regulatory, scientific, and industry challenges that will shape the future of fishing.

We are not just looking for a sustainability specialist. We are looking for someone capable of connecting science, regulation, innovation, and technology to generate real impact in an industry undergoing major transformation.

You will be the person responsible for leading Marine Industries' sustainability strategy in the Sustainable Fishing Department, anticipating regulatory trends, representing the company before key international industry stakeholders, and driving the development of technological solutions that contribute to more sustainable fisheries management.

You will be a key figure in connecting scientific knowledge, market needs, and technological innovation with the company's strategy.

What you'll do

• Monitor regulatory, scientific, and industry developments related to tropical tuna fishing and anticipate their impact on the business.

• Analyze regulatory opportunities and risks to guide Marine Industries' strategy.

• Represent the company before international organizations, working groups, congresses, and technical forums.

• Build strong relationships with vessel owners, government bodies, international organizations, scientific institutions, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.

• Collaborate with the Product, Innovation, and Business teams to incorporate sustainability criteria into the development of new solutions.

• Identify opportunities where technology can respond to the environmental and regulatory challenges facing the industry.

• Lead and coordinate initiatives such as the Blue Recovery program and international projects related to FAD Watch.

• Produce technical content and support Marine Industries' positioning as a benchmark in innovation for fishing sustainability.

What we're looking for

We would like to bring on board someone with strategic vision, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in complex international environments.

We will particularly value:

• University degree in Engineering, Marine Sciences, Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences, Blue Economy, or related fields.

• At least 4 years of professional experience in sustainability, innovation, fisheries management, blue economy, or related sectors.

• Knowledge of the international tropical tuna fishing ecosystem or the ability to quickly understand how it works.

• Experience in institutional relations and stakeholder management.

• Ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and turn them into innovation opportunities.

• Experience working on international and multidisciplinary projects.

• Advanced level of English (mandatory).

• Availability to travel internationally (approximately 70% of the time).

Nice to have

The following will be considered a plus:

• Circular economy applied to the fishing sector.

• Technological innovation with environmental impact.

• Geographic Information Systems (QGIS or others).

• Technologies applied to fishing, satellite communications, or data management.

What you'll get

• Join an internationally leading technology company in its sector.

• A newly created position with real decision-making power to define the company's sustainability strategy.

• Participate in international projects with environmental and technological impact.

• Work alongside highly specialized innovation teams.

• Hybrid work model.

• Professional development in a dynamic, international, innovation-driven environment.

• The opportunity to directly contribute to the future of more sustainable fishing.

If you are passionate about sustainability and innovation and want to be part of a company that develops technology with real impact on the oceans, we would love to meet you.
