About the role

As part of the launch complex team, your main mission will be to design the hydraulic systems for the launch platforms at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) in Kourou, French Guiana.

You will design hydraulic systems and select valve blocks, cylinders for launch pad erection systems, cylinders for rocket release systems, etc.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in testing and validation processes, thus ensuring the overall quality and performance of our hydraulic systems for launch platforms.

What you'll do

  • Design and test hydraulic circuits for launch platforms, ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Select and size components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, filters, fittings, and sensors.
  • Develop hydraulic circuit schematics.
  • Develop and review piping system designs in accordance with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop piping layout drawings.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly processes, providing technical guidance and resolving any design-related issues that arise during production, testing, or assembly.
  • Create documentation related to procedures and testing on test benches.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers for the procurement of necessary equipment, components, and services related to the development of hydraulic systems for launch platforms.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, NX, Catia, or Inventor).
  • Knowledge of the functions, specifications, and characteristics of components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, accumulators, filters, hoses, fittings, and sensors.
  • Knowledge to design hydraulic circuits and schematics using standard symbols and conventions (ISO 1219-1 and 1219-2).
  • Knowledge of pressure drop, flow rate, and power consumption calculations.
  • Knowledge of the use of instruments and equipment such as pressure gauges, flow meters, test benches, and data acquisition systems to measure and monitor system parameters.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems or failures that may arise in system operation or performance.
  • Ability to design hydraulic systems that meet the needs of the launch platform and creativity to overcome any challenge or limitation that may arise during the design process.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
