About the role

Would you like to help us solve the biggest engineering challenges?

At Quest Global, we develop engineering and technology solutions across the entire product lifecycle, enabling our clients to tackle the major challenges they face in the aerospace and defense, automotive, energy, high-tech, rail, and semiconductor sectors. We are more than 23,000 people in 20 countries, passionate about innovation and committed to making the world a better place, pushing the limits every day to make possible what, at first glance, seemed impossible.

What you'll do

We are looking for a Development Mechanical Engineer to join a small technical team and take part in the design, development, prototyping, and industrialization of high-tech mechanical solutions and systems.

The position is especially focused on the mechanical design of structures, assemblies, and components, their integration with different systems, and their subsequent manufacturing, assembly, and validation.

We are looking for someone with a hands-on profile who enjoys both CAD design and direct work with the product: building and assembling prototypes, checking interfaces and alignments, identifying issues, and proposing practical solutions.

The role offers a high degree of autonomy and involvement throughout the entire development cycle, from the initial concept to the functional prototype and its subsequent industrialization.

Main responsibilities

1. Mechanical design and development

  • Design and develop mechanical structures, assemblies, and components.
  • Design frames, brackets, enclosures, structures, and integration systems.
  • Develop mechanical solutions to integrate different components and equipment.
  • Define mechanical interfaces, fasteners, tolerances, fits, and assembly requirements.
  • Carry out the complete development of mechanical assemblies, from concept to prototype.
  • Optimize designs considering manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and scalability.
  • Resolve mechanical issues during the different phases of development.

2. CAD design and technical documentation

  • Use Onshape as the primary CAD design tool.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Properly manage product structures and technical documentation.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) criteria.
  • Work with tolerances, fits, interfaces, and dimensional requirements.
  • Experience with other CAD systems such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo, or equivalent will be valued.

3. Prototyping and hands-on work

  • Directly participate in the manufacturing and assembly of prototypes.
  • Assemble structures and mechanical assemblies.
  • Check dimensions, interfaces, fits, and component alignment.
  • Identify issues during assembly and modify designs as needed.
  • Make adjustments and improvements to prototypes.
  • Participate in functional testing and validation.
  • Incorporate conclusions drawn from assembly and testing into the design.

4. Manufacturing and industrialization

Design with real manufacturing processes in mind, especially:

  • Laser cutting.
  • Sheet metal, bending, and forming.
  • Profiles and structures.
  • Machining.
  • Welding and other joining methods.
  • Standard components and off-the-shelf parts.
  • Assembly processes.
  • Manufacturing of prototypes and short production runs.

It will be important to understand the actual capabilities and limitations of manufacturing processes, as well as tolerances, finishes, joining methods, and assembly requirements.

The person will take part in evolving solutions from the initial prototype to an industrializable, reproducible, and scalable design.

5. Systems integration

  • Mechanically integrate different components, equipment, and subsystems.
  • Define supports, fasteners, interfaces, and mounting systems.
  • Ensure proper accessibility, maintenance, and assembly of the different elements.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
  • Resolve interferences and integration issues between different systems.

6. Supplier technical management

  • Coordinate the manufacturing of the different components needed to build prototypes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Define technical requirements and follow up on them.
  • Resolve technical questions with suppliers.

7. Fluids and cooling knowledge

The project may involve fluid management systems and thermal control, so prior knowledge in the following areas will be valued:

  • Piping and tubing.
  • Hydraulics and fluid circuits.
  • Pumps, valves, and fittings.
  • Heat exchangers.
  • Mechanical integration of cooling systems.
  • Supports and structures for hydraulic systems.

What you'll get

Quest Global is a place where we value curiosity, authenticity, and the talent of every individual.

We believe that the diverse experiences and backgrounds of our team bring us unique perspectives, which is why, in your workplace, you will be able to unleash your creativity, explore possibilities, propose ideas that are heard and valued, and grow both professionally and personally.

At Quest Global, you will benefit from:

  • Individual development plan and mentoring programs: company-funded technical training and certifications. Access to different learning platforms with more than 7,000 courses and language training based on the needs of the position.
  • A day off for your birthday, plus 23 working days of annual vacation, and December 24th and 31st as non-working days.
  • Work-life balance plans, flexible working hours, and a remote work policy depending on the project and the characteristics of the role.
  • Access to telemedicine and medical check-ups through an app, as well as other benefits such as mental health support or completely free exercise programs.
  • Flexible compensation plan: private health insurance, restaurant tickets, transport tickets, childcare voucher, and care ticket for dependent relatives.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility committee and employee resource groups (ERGs) to promote professional development in equality and diversity. Programs to promote women in STEM careers and charitable initiatives focused on children.
  • Team activities: sports, team-building, emotional management, and the annual Quest Global Fest.

If you are a curious person, the kind who is not satisfied with just one piece of the puzzle, apply for this position. We would love to meet you!

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical education.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Solid experience in 3D design and development of mechanical assemblies.
  • Proficiency in parametric CAD tools.
  • Experience in design for manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal, laser cutting, and profiles.
  • Knowledge of tolerances, fits, alignment, and assembly processes.
  • Hands-on experience in building and assembling prototypes.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Ability to interpret and generate manufacturing drawings.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of their developments.

The following will be especially valued

  • Experience with CAD software. Ideally Onshape.
  • Experience in developing physical products or complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience in designing structures and modular systems.
  • Experience in industrialization and manufacturing of short production runs.
  • Knowledge of piping and hydraulics.
  • Experience with cooling systems or fluid management.
  • Experience in integrating different technologies and subsystems.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly.
  • Experience working in small, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience in technology, industrial, or critical infrastructure sectors will be positively valued.
