Port Agency Agent

Spare Parts and Stores Logistics Area:

Coordination of the end-to-end supply chain for spare parts, lubricants, provisions, and stores from the supplier to the vessel.

Customs management of international shipments: processing of import/export customs declarations (DUA), transit regime, ATA Carnet, and exemptions for vessels in transit.

Liaison with logistics operators, freight forwarders, couriers, and transport providers specialized in port traffic.

Control of critical delivery times on board, planning coordination with cranes and launch services.

Operational resolution of incidents: customs delays, discrepancies in packages, and handling of dangerous goods (IMDG).

Shipment tracking, traceability, and documentary validation (BL, AWB, packing lists, certificates).

Port Agency Area:

Comprehensive management of port calls: coordination with the Port Authority (APBA), Harbour Master's Office, Pilots, Tugboats, Stevedoring, and Maritime Health.

Continuous communication and ETA/ETD reporting with shipowners and ship operators.

Physical and operational supervision of berthings, anchorages, and transits through the Strait, as well as attending to vessels in emergency situations (breakdowns, medical emergencies, stowaways).

Financial and accounting management of the call: preparation of the Statement of Facts (SOF), drafting of the Disbursement Account, and invoicing.

Negotiation of local supplier rates and preparation of operational reports/KPIs.

Incident coverage and response through a 24/7 operational duty roster, rotating with the team.

Education: Degree in Nautical Studies, International Trade, Transport and Logistics, Maritime Law, or similar. Knowledge of the international maritime legal framework (SOLAS, MARPOL, APBA regulations). Additional training in Ship Agency or Customs will be valued.

Professional Experience: Between 3 and 5 years of prior experience in a shipping agency at the Port of Algeciras/Strait. Demonstrable experience in ship spares delivery, Disbursement Account management, and invoicing. Experience with container, bulk carrier, and tanker traffic will be valued.

Languages: Spanish (Native/Bilingual) and English (Advanced level C1, essential for daily interaction with international shipowners). Other languages will be valued.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in port call management software (Portman, SIRE, or equivalent) and knowledge of the Single Window for Ports (Ventanilla Única Portuaria/e-Customs). Advanced MS Office skills.

Additional Requirements: Genuine availability to work rotating 24/7 shifts, including weekends and holidays. Valid driving licence and own vehicle (desirable). High tolerance for stress and the ability to manage multiple vessel calls simultaneously.

Contract: Permanent contract with immediate start or to be agreed upon.

Base Salary: Commensurate with experience.

You will act as the operational and commercial point of contact between shipowners, shipping lines, foreign agents, and local suppliers in the Bay of Algeciras and the Strait of Gibraltar.

This is a dual-nature position with a twofold mission: ensuring the smooth flow of the entire logistics chain for the delivery of spare parts, consumables, and stores on board, and carrying out the comprehensive and efficient management of port calls.

Área de Logística de Repuestos y Pertrechos:

Coordinación de la cadena de suministro integral de spare parts, lubricantes, víveres y pertrechos desde el proveedor hasta el barco.

Gestión aduanera de envíos internacionales: tramitación de DUA de importación/exportación, régimen de tránsito, ATA Carnet y exenciones de buques en tránsito.

Interlocución con operadores logísticos, transitarios, couriers y transportistas especializados en tráfico portuario.

Control de los tiempos críticos de entrega a bordo, planificando la coordinación con grúas y lanchonajes.

Resolución operativa de incidencias: retrasos aduaneros, discrepancias en bultos y gestión de mercancía peligrosa (IMDG).

Seguimiento, trazabilidad de envíos y validación documental (BL, AWB, packing lists, certificados).

Área de Consignaciones Portuarias:

Gestión integral de escalas portuarias: coordinación ante la APBA, Capitanía, Prácticos, Remolcadores, Estiba y Sanidad Marítima.

Comunicación continua e informes de ETA/ETD con armadores y ship operators.

Supervisión física y operativa de atraques, fondeos y paso por el Estrecho, así como la atención a buques en situaciones de emergencia (averías, urgencias médicas, polizones).

Gestión contable y financiera de la escala: emisión del Statement of Facts (SOF), confección de la Disbursement Account (Nota de Gastos) y facturación.

Negociación de tarifas locales con proveedores y elaboración de informes/KPIs operativos.

Atención y cobertura de incidencias mediante guardia operativa 24/7 en rotación con el equipo.

Formación Académica: Titulación en Náutica, Comercio Internacional, Transporte y Logística, Derecho Marítimo o similar. Conocimiento del marco legal marítimo (SOLAS, MARPOL, normativa APBA). Se valorará formación extra en Agencia Consignataria o Aduanas.

Experiencia Profesional: Entre 3 y 5 años de experiencia previa en agencia consignataria en el Puerto de Algeciras/Estrecho. Experiencia demostrable en ship spares delivery, gestión de Disbursement Accounts y facturación. Se valorará experiencia en tráfico de portacontenedores, graneleros y tanqueros.

Idiomas: Español (Nativo/Bilingüe) e Inglés (Nivel alto C1 imprescindible para el trato diario con armadores internacionales). Se valorarán otros idiomas.

Competencias Técnicas: Dominio de software de gestión de escalas (Portman, SIRE o equivalentes) y conocimiento de Ventanilla Única Portuaria (VUP/e-Customs). MS Office avanzado.

Requisitos Adicionales: Disponibilidad real para trabajar en turnos rotativos 24/7, incluyendo guardias de fin de semana y festivos. Carnet de conducir B y vehículo propio (deseable). Alta tolerancia al estrés y capacidad de organización multiescala.

Contrato: Indefinido con incorporación inmediata o a convenir.

Salario Base: En función de experiencia aportada.

Actuarás como el punto de contacto operativo y comercial entre armadores, navieras, agentes extranjeros y proveedores locales en la Bahía de Algeciras y el Estrecho de Gibraltar.

Se trata de un puesto de naturaleza dual cuya misión es doble: garantizar la fluidez de toda la cadena logística para la entrega a bordo de repuestos, consumibles y pertrechos, y realizar la gestión integral y eficiente de las escalas portuarias.
