About the role

Are you interested in designing and developing aerospace tooling with high-precision tools like CATIA or Siemens NX? At RDT, we are looking for a Tooling Design Engineer to join our team and participate in the design, modeling, and validation of tooling and fixtures for aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and verification processes, ensuring they meet the technical, functional, and safety requirements established by the client.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop aerospace tooling: assembly tools, templates, verification fixtures, positioning devices, and supports.

  • 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation using CATIA V5/V6 or Siemens NX.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, functional analysis, and tooling improvement proposals.

  • Ensure compliance with client standards, aerospace regulations, and internal design criteria.

  • Participate in technical reviews (DR, PDR, CDR) and coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and methods departments.

  • Prepare technical documentation: bill of materials (BOM), basic usage instructions, specifications, and manuals.

  • Perform basic strength calculations, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) analysis when necessary.

  • Interact directly with the plant to validate designs, gather requirements, and resolve issues.

  • Collaborate on the industrialization of new processes by providing tooling solutions.

What we're looking for

  • Education in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar fields.

  • Previous experience in tooling design for the aerospace sector or high-precision industries (automotive, rail, defense).

  • Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 and/or Siemens NX for modeling and drawing generation.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, composites, metallic structures).

  • Ability to interpret drawings, technical specifications, tolerances, and GD&T.

  • Fluency in multidisciplinary environments (methods, quality, production, customer engineering).

  • B2 level of English.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of aerospace regulations and design standards.

  • Familiarity with PLM and data management tools (Teamcenter, Enovia…).

  • Experience in tooling validation on the shop floor and manufacturing follow-up.

  • Knowledge of basic simulation or structural analysis (ANSYS, Nastran…).

What you'll get

  • Participation in high-level technological aerospace projects.

  • Work in multidisciplinary teams with direct interaction with clients.

  • Continuous training and real opportunities for professional development.

  • Work modality depending on the project: engineering office + shop floor support.
