Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on laboratory experience in mobile radio access (NB-IoT, LTE, or 5G NR) with real equipment, not just in simulation.

  • Test automation and scripting in Python or an equivalent language, and the habit of automating what you have already done twice by hand.

  • Protocol analysis: you know how to read a trace and formulate a hypothesis instead of just forwarding a log.

  • Sufficient foundation in 3GPP radio access procedures to follow a specification and know if what you observe conforms to it.

  • Rigor in documenting what has been tested, in which build, and with what result.

Nice to have

  • Experience with open source radio access stacks: srsRAN, OpenAirInterface, Amarisoft, or similar.

  • Knowledge of non-terrestrial networks, NTN IoT from Release 17 onwards, or Store and Forward operation.

  • Experience in CI/CD for embedded or radio software.

  • C or C++ beyond scripting, and a desire to grow into radio access development.

  • Experience with AI-assisted development and analysis tools.

Languages

  • Professional level of English.

Pay & benefits

What you'll get

  • Real impact in one of Europe's most ambitious space projects.

  • Growth: we cover 50% of courses or master's degrees (up to 5% of your salary), in addition to Spanish and Catalan classes.

  • Health and balance: we cover 50% of private medical insurance and a discount on Wellhub. You have flexible hours and hybrid work, because we focus on results, not hours.

  • Flexible compensation through Cobee (meals, transport, childcare).

  • A global team: more than 20 nationalities building something new, with people who are a pleasure to work with. Good atmosphere and real teamwork.

  • A real welcome: a buddy assigned from day one.

  • Life beyond work: we organize leisure and sports activities inside and outside of working hours, because good teams connect beyond the screen.

  • Catering: if you don't have time to cook, we work with a catering company so you can have a fresh meal without thinking about it.

  • Parking: parking at the office with 50% of the cost covered by Sateliot, and free bike parking if you prefer to come pedaling.

The role

Sateliot is a satellite company based in Barcelona with one goal: to connect everything, everywhere. Founded in 2018, we have built the first satellite constellation that allows standard commercial devices to communicate directly from space. Our technology reaches where terrestrial networks never will and brings affordable and secure connectivity to industries, governments, and communities across the planet.
More information: https://sateliot.space/

At Sateliot, we bring standard cellular connectivity from space and develop key pieces of our radio access technology in-house. This means that every functionality we write must prove that it works before reaching orbit. This role is the practical side of that work: managing the laboratory testbeds where we test our NB-IoT and 5G NR non-terrestrial base stations, and building the automation that allows us to repeat those tests with every change. You will work alongside the engineers developing the stack and the architect who defines what needs to be validated. If you want to end up writing radio access software and not just testing it, this role is a gateway: those who know the test system best are those who understand the stack first.

What you'll do

  • Manage testbeds: prepare and execute test campaigns on our NTN eNodeB and gNodeB, using SDR equipment, channel emulation, and our own test terminal.

  • Build test automation and take responsibility for it: convert manual campaigns into regression suites that run with every change, and maintain them fast enough so that the team actually uses them.

  • Execute the test specifications defined by the RAN Test Architect and point out what they miss when you have the equipment in front of you.

  • Analyze protocol traces and logs to determine where the failure is (stack, device, or link) and report it in a way that a developer can act without reproducing it from scratch.

  • Keep the laboratory operational: configuration, equipment, and the record of what has been tested with which build.

  • Support field test campaigns and in-orbit validation when a functionality reaches that phase.

  • Grow into the stack: you will work alongside those who develop it, with a senior engineer who will review what you build and the necessary mentoring to move from testing radio access software to writing it.

How you'll work

  • Reside in Barcelona: the laboratories and the team are here, and the position requires hands-on work with the equipment.

  • Availability to travel occasionally for field test campaigns.
