As Legal Counsel for the Spanish market, reporting directly to the General Counsel International, you will play a key role in defining Veepee's business strategies in Spain.
You will provide proactive, comprehensive, and business-oriented legal advice, and you will drive initiatives that ensure the
standards of integrity, quality, ethical behavior, and responsibility on our e-commerce platform.
You will be part of the International Legal team, which covers Spain, Italy, Benelux,
Germany, Austria, and the United Kingdom, and you will work from our Barcelona offices alongside the rest of the Spanish legal team.
• Lead and manage the legal aspects of Veepee and Privalia's operations in Spain.
• Identify and assess the legal risks of business operations,
keeping management and the Country Manager of Spain informed about
relevant legal developments.
• Advise on all areas of law affecting the business (except tax and labor), including:
- Commercial contracts: agreements with customers, suppliers, logistics,
distribution, and collaborations.
- Logistics and operations: transport, storage, and logistics services contracts, and legal support for warehouse operations.
- Real estate: leases for offices and logistics warehouses, and construction and service contracts related to properties.
- Consumer law, advertising, and digital law.
- Data protection and privacy: compliance with GDPR and LOPDGDD, in coordination with the business and technology areas.
- Competition and distribution law.
- Regulatory compliance, including product safety (GPSR), the Digital Services Act (DSA), the P2B Regulation, and other
regulations affecting e-commerce.
- Drafting of legal documents and communications.
- Management of claims and ongoing proceedings.
- Intellectual property, IT, and e-commerce.
• Legal risk assessment: continuously evaluate business activities to identify risks and legal implications, and define effective
strategies
to mitigate them.
• Contract management: oversee the drafting, review and negotiation of a
wide variety of commercial contracts, ensuring that their terms reflect strategic objectives and comply with regulations.
• Regulatory compliance: track legislative and regulatory changes
relevant to e-commerce, retail and technology, and advise on the necessary adaptations across all areas of operations.
• Dispute resolution: manage and resolve disputes affecting the
company, providing solutions aligned with business interests and with regulations.
• Litigation management: represent the company in proceedings or coordinate
external law firms when necessary.
• Legal documentation: ensure that contracts, memoranda and
communications are drafted precisely and protect the interests of the
company.
• Team management: lead, develop and support the lawyer or lawyers in your charge, and distribute priorities and workload.
• Training: lead training initiatives for teams on legal
developments, policies and best practices, fostering a culture of compliance.
• Regional harmonization: contribute, together with the rest of Legal International, to
aligning templates, legal positions and processes across countries when it makes
sense.
• AI and process transformation: drive the responsible adoption of
artificial intelligence and automation tools in the legal department and across
the company, ensuring regulatory compliance (including the AI
Act) and continuous improvement of processes.
