SME Market Underwriter

And you will wonder: Mariana, what will my day-to-day be like wearing the blue shirt? I love that you ask me this question (I asked it to myself at the time too):

We are looking for an SME Consultant within the Southern Territory / Canary Islands Directorate, based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, whose functions are based on taking responsibility for the proactive search for business opportunities in the agent and broker market in order to grow the portfolio and achieve the results required by the plan (new business, retention objectives, loss ratio, etc.).

• Proactively search for new SME underwriting opportunities.
• Monthly monitoring and achievement of the plan for your area (portfolio, New Business, loss ratio, retention...)
• Monitoring and reviewing the correct execution of underwriting initiatives.
• Support underwriting in the renewal process of important accounts within our SME portfolio.
• Detailed evaluation and understanding of broker portfolios to detect growth opportunities for each SME broker assigned to your panel.
• Perform cross-selling with other lines of business to increase product density per client.
• Interact with sales teams related to the territory or assigned brokers.
• Create solid networks of agents and brokers related to SME insurance.
• Report mediation feedback internally to implement appropriate improvements.
• Collaborate with marketing for agents/brokers and energize product launches.
• Diagnose and prepare recommendations to solve specific problems of the business unit, the broker, or the agent.
• Research, recommend, and implement solutions based on Risk Management that satisfy the needs of brokers and agents.

Don't worry—I'm not going to ask you to save the planet or meet 100% of the requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in underwriting, ideally related to Corporate risks.
• Knowledge of specific underwriting products for SMEs.
• Good negotiation skills, as well as the ability to interact with intermediaries and market teams.
• Results and goal-oriented
• Proactivity. A clear service attitude.
• Communication skills.
• Possibility of travel.
