What we're looking for

• Degree in Industrial, Energy, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or similar. Postgraduate training in project management, energy, sustainability, or operations management will be valued.

• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in execution, operation, engineering, or management of energy, industrial, or energy services projects.

• Experience in projects for private clients, especially industrial, tertiary, or large corporate clients.

• Solid knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, renewable thermal generation, electrification, industrial heating/cooling, photovoltaics, self-consumption, BESS, monitoring, and O&M.

• Experience managing complex projects with multiple suppliers, EPC contractors, installers, technology providers, and maintenance companies.

• Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments, with private clients from different sectors (industrial, tertiary, etc.) and under long-term contractual models.

The role

ACCIONA Energía is the world's largest energy company that is 100% renewable and fossil-free. With more than 30 years of experience and operations in 20 countries across five continents, ACCIONA Energía offers a comprehensive portfolio of tailored energy solutions to help its corporate and institutional clients achieve their decarbonization goals. This includes the development, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance of renewable plants—mainly wind and solar—as well as energy management and trading, energy services, self-consumption, electric mobility, and new technologies such as storage and green hydrogen. ACCIONA Energía is governed by the highest environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) standards.

ACCIONA, within its Energy business line, needs to incorporate an ESCO Operations Manager for the Private Sector, who will join the Energy Services (ESCO) area at its Madrid Campus.

The role arises from the evolution of the ESCO area towards higher-value projects, long-term contracts, CAPEX solutions, operation and maintenance, and an operational approach specifically adapted to an energy services company. Its mission will be to ensure that the solutions developed by the commercial area and the technical office are executed, commissioned, and operated under criteria of safety, availability, performance, profitability, and risk control.

This role will report to the Energy Services Director and will lead a dedicated team of project managers, commissioning technicians, and O&M managers.

Lead the execution, commissioning, operation, and operational monitoring phases of ESCO projects in the private sector, ensuring that the solutions committed to the client are technically and operationally viable, maintainable, replicable, and consistent with ACCIONA Energía's risk profile.

What you'll do

• Lead, structure, and grow the operations team (project managers, commissioning technicians, and O&M managers) as the ESCO project portfolio expands.

• Define the organizational structure of the team and actively participate in the selection and onboarding of new profiles.

• Foster the team's professional development through mentoring, technical training, and career plans.

• Set clear objectives, evaluate performance, and promote a culture of responsibility and continuous improvement within the team.

• Act as a technical and leadership reference, delegating effectively and building internal execution capabilities within the team.

• Lead the start-up, planning, execution, and operation and maintenance of energy projects from contract signing through to stable operation.

• Coordinate detailed engineering, technical procurement, construction, assembly, testing, legalization, commissioning, and handover to operations.

• Oversee compliance with schedules, CAPEX, quality, technical permits, contractual conditions, and safety requirements.

• Ensure execution is aligned with the ESCO model: long-term contracts, future operation, guaranteed performance, and ongoing client relationship.

• Coordinate engineering firms, technology providers, EPC contractors, installers, maintenance providers, and specialized partners.

• Validate that proposed solutions are operable, maintainable, and suitable for the client's process before assuming significant contractual commitments.

• Engage early in the review of projects with future operation to identify technical, performance, availability, integration, and maintainability risks within the client's facilities.

• Support the definition of GO / NO GO criteria from an operational and risk perspective, avoiding projects that cannot be executed or operated with guarantees.

• Define mitigation measures, responsibilities, guarantees, SLAs, and operational limits before closing the binding offer and contract.

• Act as the technical-operational point of contact for the client during execution, commissioning, and operation and maintenance.

• Ensure that the implemented solution meets the committed service levels, performance, savings, availability, or production targets.

• Coordinate with Commercial, Technical Office, Bids, Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Health and Safety to ensure a single project vision.

• Translate the client's operational needs into technical requirements, operating procedures, and measurable commitments.

• Participate in defining technical standards, execution methodologies, and operational checklists for ESCO projects.

• Document lessons learned from each project and turn them into replicable criteria for future bids, contracts, and operations.

• Support the standardization of solutions and operating models by technology type: heating, cooling, PV, BESS, energy efficiency, energy management, and renewable gases.

• Contribute to building a more selective, disciplined ESCO operation aligned with the real capacity for execution and operation.
