Requirements
Nice to have
We will especially value having worked within a company, having built legal processes, or having supported growing technology companies. Experience in education or training provides context, but is not essential.

We are committed to our team in the long term, betting on stability and growth.
Pay & benefits
What you'll get
We pay above market and improve upon any external offer to retain the best talent.
The role
At Evolve, we believe in the power of education to change lives. We offer high-quality technology programs, designed to prepare our students for the challenges of the future. Our team is composed of passionate professionals dedicated to educational excellence. Join us and become part of a community that values innovation and professional growth.
What you'll do
We are looking for a Head of Legal to build and lead Evolve's in-house legal function.
You will report directly to the CEO and provide cross-functional coverage to all areas.
You will have responsibility for the company's legal priorities and will work directly with management and department heads. You will be supported by our law firms and specialized advisors, with the autonomy to propose how the function should be organized and what resources it needs.
This is a role that combines judgment, negotiation skills, and direct execution. You will review contracts, manage specific matters, and build processes so that teams can work with greater clarity and autonomy.
We expect you to understand the business, anticipate problems, and translate legal complexity into useful recommendations: what we can do, under what conditions, and what risks we are assuming.
The objective of the position is to build a legal function that allows Evolve to grow with security and agility. To protect the company's interests, ensure consistency between our commitments and our way of operating, and take responsibility for ensuring that legal matters advance until their resolution.
How you'll work
We adapt to the needs of the team, guaranteeing efficiency without sacrificing quality of life.
Main responsibilities
Business contracting and development
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with companies, providers, teachers, academic directors, and collaborators.
• Keep student contracting conditions and our digital services aligned with the actual offering and operations.
• Support product launches, alliances, and commercial operations, identifying risks and proposing viable solutions.
• Build contractual models and review criteria that streamline work, including version control, signatures, expirations, and obligations.
Advisory and corporate governance
• Advise management and department heads, presenting clear recommendations and alternatives when a decision involves significant risks.
• Coordinate corporate matters and legal support for investment operations, shareholder agreements, and equity plans.
• Protect Evolve's brand, content, and intellectual property, ensuring the necessary rights to develop and commercialize our products.
Compliance and people relations
• Lead legal work in data protection, consumer rights, and digital contracting, resorting to specialists when necessary.
• Work with People and labor counsel on hiring, internal policies, conflicts, and departures, and coordinate the necessary legal support for occupational risk prevention.
• Manage student and customer claims, seeking well-founded solutions and working with teams to correct practices that cause recurring problems.
Area management and external advisors
• Organize the intake and prioritization of legal matters, with owners, deadlines, and follow-up until closure.
• Select and coordinate law firms and advisors: define assignments, control budgets, and evaluate the quality and utility of their work.
• Direct the response to controversies and litigation alongside the corresponding specialists.
• Keep legal documentation accessible, updated, and traceable, and implement tools that reduce manual work and unnecessary dependencies.
What we are looking for
• Solid legal experience, approximately 5 to 8 years, with demonstrated autonomy in managing matters and negotiating contracts.
• Law degree and professional membership as a practicing lawyer.
• A solid generalist base, especially in commercial and contracting law, with practical experience in labor, consumer, and data protection matters.
• Ability to recognize when to resolve matters directly and when to incorporate specialized advice.
• Professional English to review documentation and negotiate with international interlocutors.
• Business judgment: understanding the objective of each operation, assessing its risks, and proposing a viable way to move forward.
• Order and consistency to handle several matters at once, prioritize, and close commitments.
• Ability to uphold difficult recommendations, explain their reasoning, and maintain solid working relationships.
Permanent contract
We are committed to our team in the long term, betting on stability and growth.
Growth plans
We encourage professional evolution, the assumption of responsibilities, and team leadership.
Positive environment
A dynamic, ambitious, and demanding environment, where talent is driven and growth is real.
