The role

At Gradiant, we are a leading technology center in Galicia. We develop deep tech solutions that combine artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and advanced communications (5G/6G, satellite communications, aeronautical systems, etc.).

For more than 15 years, we have been transforming knowledge into real innovation for companies, accompanying them throughout the entire R&D&i cycle until reaching technological transfer.

Our team is made up of professionals passionate about technology, social impact, and excellence. If you are looking for a dynamic environment, where your work has a real impact on the business fabric and with a horizontal work culture, keep reading!

What you'll do

You will be part of the Electronics line, within the Communications and Sensing Area, as an FPGA/SoC (System-on-Chip) Firmware Engineer, working on the development of digital signal processing and digital communications systems.

You will define architectures for SoC and FPGA systems; you will model, simulate, and verify high-speed processing blocks using HDL (Hardware Description Languages); and you will validate developments on hardware platforms, both custom-designed and integrated from COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) boards.

In your day-to-day

  • You will analyze system requirements and algorithmic models to define hardware-optimized architectures and processing blocks.

  • You will model digital designs in VHDL and Verilog/SystemVerilog.

  • You will define test benches to verify system designs using HDL simulators in a continuous integration environment.

  • You will contribute to improving the design and implementation methodologies used by the team.

  • You will mentor and supervise trainees, junior profiles, and research staff, fostering their technical development, knowledge exchange, and collaboration within the team.

  • From time to time, you will present technical and engineering results at relevant events and conferences.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an FPGA/SoC Firmware Engineer with high motivation and solid knowledge in digital electronics, signal processing applied to digital communications, high-speed digital systems, and hardware-software integration.

We would like to bring on board a person with good communication skills, who enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with others, while simultaneously taking responsibility for their technical tasks.

We are also looking for a profile oriented toward detail and problem-solving, with an interest in innovation, continuous learning, and emerging technologies.

Additionally, we require:

  • University degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related fields.

  • PhD or more than 5 years of experience in projects related to signal processing or digital communications engineering using FPGA/SoC/ASIC technologies.

  • Knowledge of HDL, HDL simulators, digital design oriented toward timing closure, and FPGA timing optimization techniques.

  • Practical experience in digital system verification using standard methodologies and frameworks (UVM, OSVVM, UVVM).

  • Ability to work in a team.

  • Very good level of English and Spanish, both spoken and written.

🔍 We would also love it if you have...

  • Experience working with Xilinx or Altera FPGA platforms.

  • Knowledge of ModelSim/Questa or open source Verilog/SystemVerilog simulators.

  • Experience implementing signal processing and communications systems on digital hardware platforms.

  • Previous training in project management or interest in developing your career toward technical project management.

  • Experience in technical leadership, mentoring, or team coordination.
