Requirements

What we're looking for

Experience designing or evolving distributed data systems, with at least one case of event processing in production.
Experience with Kafka, Confluent, Spark Structured Streaming, Flink, or equivalent technologies, and knowledge of Data Lake or Lakehouse architectures.
Ability to explain which design decisions you have made, which alternatives you evaluated, and how you coordinated their adoption with other teams.
Availability to attend the office weekly in Barcelona or Alicante.

Nice to have

The position fits both a Data Architect and a Senior or Lead Data Engineer who has already taken on design responsibilities and wants to make the step into architecture. We value experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, migrations from on-premise to cloud environments, and working in complex organizations.

The role

Data Architect | Streaming and distributed platforms
📍 Barcelona or Alicante · Weekly on-site presence

At Q-tech, we are looking for a Data Architect to join the architecture team of a financial institution and help modernize its data platforms. The main challenge will be to expand real-time processing capabilities and support the evolution of existing systems towards Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures in cloud and hybrid environments.

What you'll do

Design solutions to capture, transport, process, and store large volumes of data, with a special focus on streaming and event-driven architectures.
Evaluate technological alternatives and define integration patterns between platforms and teams, taking into account performance, resilience, and security.
Propose improvements for the platform roadmap and defend your design decisions before technical teams and business managers.
Support the adoption of designs alongside the Data Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Production teams.
