Middle Office Gas and Power Analyst

To succeed in this position, we are looking for a profile with the following expertise:

• Deep knowledge of the Spanish energy and gas market (Essential requirement).
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Middle Office analyst in the electricity sector, preferably in an international company.
• Education: University degree in Engineering (highly valued), Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or quantitative disciplines. Business/commercial profiles will be valued if they demonstrate solid technical knowledge of the sector.
• Languages: Proficiency in English (mid-high/fluent level), indispensable for the international environment.

Essential technical knowledge:

• Electricity markets (OMIE and REE adjustment markets) and REE settlement processes.
• Power Trading, intraday market, and margin calculation (Clean Spark Spread - CSS).
• Environmental products (EUAs, CAEs, VERs, and UERs).

Tools and Soft Skills:

• Previous experience with ETRM systems (preferably Allegro) will be very positively valued.
• Desirable programming knowledge (SQL and Databases).
• Great capacity for teamwork and excellent communication skills for constant liaison with traders and finance profiles.

As part of the Middle Office team, you will be a key piece in the control and analysis of operations. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing, modeling, and reporting market information from gas, electricity, and environmental commodity trading activities (physical and financial operations, transport, storage, and currencies).
• Daily Control (M2M and P/L): Evaluating Mark-to-Market (M2M), basis variations, and results (P/L) on a daily basis. Generating reports for traders and Senior Management.
• Validation and Reconciliation: Reviewing operations and prices in the trading system (price validation, curve updates, trade registration, and internal limits).
• Quantifying commodity exposure and forward movements. Testing new calculations and evaluating hypotheses against the market.
• Strategic Liaison: Working in close collaboration with traders (Front Office) to explain information sources, as well as with Back Office, Commercial Risk, Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure best control practices.
• Process Optimization: Supporting the implementation of operational and system improvements.
