Air Europa
Air Europa is a major Spanish airline and a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance. Founded in 1986, it operates a fleet of over 40 aircraft, serving more than 60 destinations across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, and Africa from its main hub at Madrid-Barajas Airport. The airline is a subsidiary of Globalia, one of Spain's largest tourism groups, and focuses on both passenger and cargo transport, with a strong presence in the long-haul market connecting Spain with the Americas.
Air Europa's operations center on Spain, with its commercial headquarters in Palma de Mallorca and its main operational hub in Madrid. The company's workforce is predominantly Spanish-speaking, and while its daily operations are conducted in Spanish, international hires with language skills in English, Portuguese or German can find opportunities, particularly in engineering, flight operations, and corporate roles. The airline offers the chance to work in a dynamic, aviation-focused environment with a strong connection to global travel—an appealing factor for professionals seeking relocation to Spain within a stable, unionized industry.
Company History
Air Europa was founded in 1986 by the former Spanish tour operator Baleares. Since then, it has grown from a regional carrier to a major long-haul airline, joining SkyTeam in 2007. In 2019, the airline was acquired by Globalia, though an attempted sale to IAG (International Airlines Group) is pending for 2023-2024.
