The role

📍 Location: Alcobendas, Madrid

We are looking for a Data Director to lead the execution and evolution of the company's Data area, with a strong component of Delivery, technological transformation, and team management.

The Data strategy is defined. The main challenge of this position will be to convert that strategy into execution, leading transformation projects, platform migrations, and the evolution of Data capabilities.

The Data Director will report directly to the CIO and will have responsibility over the following teams:

  • Data Analytics

  • Data Science

  • Digital Analytics / Online Analytics

One of the main objectives of the position will be to lead the transformation of the data platform.

We are looking for an execution-oriented Data Director.

We are not just looking for someone to define the Data strategy. The strategy is already quite well-defined.

The challenge is to find someone capable of making it a reality:

Strategy → Roadmap → Teams → Delivery → Migrations → Transformation → Results.

It will be especially important to have participated in real and complex data migrations to Google BigQuery and in Cloudera migrations, in addition to having experience leading Data Analytics, Data Science, and Digital Analytics teams.

This is a position for a professional with sufficient seniority to speak with the CIO and Management, but also with a clear orientation toward operations, delivery, and project execution.

What you'll do

  • Operationally lead the Data function, ensuring the delivery of projects and services.

  • Translate the Data strategy into an executable roadmap, prioritizing initiatives, resources, dependencies, and deliverables.

  • Direct multidisciplinary teams in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, and Digital Analytics.

  • Manage transformation projects and the modernization of data platforms.

  • Lead migrations of large platforms and data ecosystems toward Cloud architectures.

  • Participate directly in the technical definition and monitoring of migrations.

  • Lead data migration projects to Google BigQuery.

  • Have previously executed real migrations to Google BigQuery, managing both the technical aspects and team coordination.

  • Lead migration and transformation processes for Cloudera platforms.

  • Manage the evolution of legacy Big Data environments toward modern Cloud architectures.

  • Coordinate data migrations, pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data models, and analytical workloads.

  • Guarantee operational continuity during migration processes.

  • Define migration plans, cutover strategy, data validation, and contingency plans.

  • Supervise data quality, availability, security, and governance.

  • Coordinate dependencies between Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, IT, business, and vendors.

  • Ensure the correct evolution of data models and analytical platforms.

  • Drive the industrialization and automation of Data processes.

  • Establish standards and best practices for the development, operation, and maintenance of data solutions.

  • Define and monitor KPIs, SLAs, Delivery metrics, and service quality.

  • Manage budget, capacity, vendors, and resource planning.

  • Identify risks and blockers and establish mitigation plans.

  • Ensure compliance with delivery commitments for the various projects.

  • Promote working methodologies oriented toward Delivery, Agile, and continuous improvement.

  • Report periodically to the CIO regarding evolution, risks, budget, capacity, and main milestones.

  • Real experience in data platform migrations to Google BigQuery.

  • Definition of migration strategy and architecture.

  • Migration of datasets, tables, and data models.

  • Migration and adaptation of ETL/ELT processes.

  • Optimization of analytical workloads and processes.

  • Data validation and reconciliation.

  • Performance and cost management.

  • Coordination of the transition from legacy environments to Cloud.

  • Demonstrable experience in Cloudera environment migrations.

  • Knowledge of Big Data architectures and Hadoop ecosystems.

  • Planning and execution of migrations.

  • Identification of dependencies between processes, data, and applications.

  • Migration of workloads and data processing processes.

  • Coordination of technical teams during the different phases of the project.

  • Risk management and continuity during the transition.

  • Direction of the Data Analytics team.

  • Evolution of analytical platforms and models.

  • Definition of priorities and roadmap for Analytics initiatives.

  • Coordination of BI, reporting, and advanced analytics projects.

  • Ensure the availability of reliable data for the business.

  • Drive the industrialization and automation of analytical processes.

  • Coordination with different business areas to transform needs into data solutions.

  • Operational leadership of the Data Science team.

  • Coordination of predictive model, advanced analytics, and Machine Learning projects.

  • Ensure the availability and quality of the datasets required for the models.

  • Coordination between Data Engineering, Data Science, and business.

  • Monitoring of projects from the definition phase to production.

  • Drive the industrialization of Data Science models and processes.

  • Lead the Digital / Online Analytics area.
