Pay & benefits
What you'll get
We are owned in trust on behalf of our members. There are no external shareholders and no share price to serve, which gives us the freedom, with personal responsibility, to set our own direction and choose work that aligns with our purpose. Profit Share is a key part of our reward, enabling permanent members to share in the results of our collective efforts. You will be writing about this; it is worth understanding that it is a legal structure, not a slogan.
Guided by our values, we provide an attractive total reward package that recognises the contribution of each of our members to our shared success. As well as competitive, fair and equitable pay, we offer a career in which all of our members can belong, grow and thrive, through benefits that support health and wellbeing, a wide range of learning opportunities and many possibilities to have an impact through the work they do.
Work that goes public: the pages you help build will be live on arup.com, part of a careers experience read by candidates across the firm.
A named manager: you report to the Employer Branding & Talent Attraction Lead for Europe and work with the global team across the UK, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Purpose-driven work: join an employee-owned firm tackling climate, biodiversity and social challenges, aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
Inclusive culture: your unique perspective matters. We celebrate diversity and foster a supportive, social environment where everyone belongs.
A portfolio, not a certificate: you leave with published copy, a completed content audit, and a working understanding of how a global brand is rebuilt online.
Work-life balance: our hybrid model offers flexibility to balance work with your life.

What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who can write. Not someone who would like to learn to write eventually; someone who can write now, in English, clearly, with a point of view. Most of the rest we can teach.
Writing that stands up without adjectives. We will ask for a short writing sample and we will read it before we read anything else on your CV.
Currently studying, or recently graduated, in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
Fluent written and spoken English. A second language is useful; Spanish is not required.
Comfortable asking senior people for things, and following up when they do not reply. A real part of this job is that.
Curiosity about how people actually find and choose jobs online. Experience with a CMS, analytics or SEO is welcome, not expected.
The role
You see the world through a unique lens and that's exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently; it's essential for creating a sustainable future.
Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Every year we recruit hundreds of people at the start of their careers to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.
What you'll do
As an Employer Branding & Talent Attraction Intern at Arup, you will:
Source and shape the member stories behind the new careers pages: talk to engineers, designers and consultants across our markets, feeding a global content model, and turn what they say into copy that survives editing.
Audit our existing careers content against the new site structure and tell us plainly what works, what is filler, and what should not survive the move.
Draft and test copy for the sector pages (energy, transport, water, property, digital) with the Employer Branding Lead for Europe.
Run the checks that decide whether the site is usable and findable: accessibility against WCAG 2.2 AA, page metadata, alt text, link tracking.
Keep the project honest: action logs, chasing contributors, tracking what was promised against what arrived. Some of this is admin. We would rather you knew that now than in week three.
About Arup
Arup is a global consultancy providing extensive technical and advisory expertise across the built environment, drawing on more than 150 disciplines to shape infrastructure, buildings, energy and sustainability. Its work spans markets such as rail and high-speed transport, structural and civil engineering, building services, planning, and advisory services, with projects ranging from the Transpennine Route Upgrade to Little Island in New York City.
For international professionals, Arup presents itself as a borderless organisation: its careers portal organises vacancies by region (Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and UKIMEA) with current listings across countries including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia, and employees describe global project opportunities across offices. The corporate website is published in English, German, French and Spanish, and Arup's Spain-relevant track record includes being approached in 2014 by the Sagrada Família Foundation to help complete the remaining structural design of La Sagrada Família in Barcelona. The available first-party sources do not confirm specific Spanish office locations, so candidates should verify current Spain-based openings directly via jobs.arup.com.

In their own words
About the company & team
Employer Branding decides how people first meet Arup. We are a small global team spanning the UK, the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe. You would work directly with the person who leads our work across Europe's nine markets, based in Madrid, in English.
Everything we publish is measured against one test: could a competitor publish this unchanged? If it could, we cut it. That test is the reason this internship exists. We are rebuilding how Arup presents careers online, a global effort that starts with nine European markets. Rebuilding it properly takes more hands than we currently have.
Most marketing internships promise real work, then hand over a deck nobody reads. This one is attached to a single project with a budget, a deadline and an audience: the rebuild of Arup's careers experience, delivered first across nine European markets and built to a global standard.
You will work on pages that go live in public, on copy that carries a firm's reputation, and on the unglamorous checks that decide whether any of it actually gets found. You will sit in the project meetings, including the awkward ones. You will leave with published work you can show people.
