What we're looking for

  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • 3 - 4 years of experience in a People Analytics position in a research organization/public sector.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage HR budgets and/or personnel budgeting.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication (Spanish, Catalan and English), other European languages will be valued.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, etc.).

The role

Job title: HR Controlling & Analytics Coordinator

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is looking for an HR Controlling & People Analytics Coordinator to lead and elevate our workforce cost planning, budget control, and data-driven people analytics insights. Reporting directly to the Head of HR, the successful candidate will play a central role in bridging HR strategy and advanced organizational analytics to support strategic initiatives.

What you'll do

  • HR Controlling and Workforce budgeting:
    • Coordinate and ensure the end-to-end cycle of the center's total wage bill (masa salarial), from initial budgetary planning, simulation, and allocation to monthly tracking, deviation analysis, and year-end closing.
    • Ensure full institutional and public-sector regulatory compliance across salary structures in collaboration with Finance and Legal teams.
    • Manage monthly payroll cost closings, and provide strategic support to Group Leaders for personnel cost planning within their teams in partnership with the Finance Projects unit.
    • Monitor the global HR operational budget, identifying financial risks, efficiency gains, and corrective actions.
  • People Analytics:
    • Define, monitor, and report key HR KPIs to measure the effectiveness of HR processes and initiatives.
    • Develop comprehensive reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights for senior management and department heads.
    • Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of regular monthly analytics packages and high-priority ad hoc workforce data/report requests.
  • Team Coordination & Stakeholder Partnership:
    • Supervise and mentor a junior HR Controlling & Analytics Officer, fostering their professional development.
    • Collaborate with other HR units to integrate analytics into decision-making processes.
    • Act as a key liaison between HR and other departments, ensuring seamless communication and support on budget and analytics matters.
  • Workforce Reporting & Organizational Governance:
    • Coordinate mandatory institutional statistics, public-sector audits, and legal workforce compliance reporting in partnership with the payroll provider.

    • Oversee headcounts, FTE tracking, and policies regarding affiliated personnel, visiting researchers, and joint appointments.

    • Maintain up-to-date institutional organization charts and structural headcount mappings.
    • Management of affiliated personnel of BSC

Hiring process

All applications must be submitted via the BSC website and contain:

  • A full CV in English, including contact details.
  • A cover/motivation letter with a statement of interest in English, clearly specifying for which specific area and topics the applicant wishes to be considered. Additionally, two references for further contacts must be included. Applications without this document will not be considered.

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:

  1. Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
  2. Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.

The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.

In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.

The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
