Energy Networks and Systems Engineer

The energy transition is transforming the way we produce, store, and consume energy. The massive integration of renewable energies, storage, energy communities, demand flexibility, and grid digitalization poses new challenges that require innovative solutions.

At CIRCE, we are looking to hire an Energy Networks and Systems Engineer to join the Grid Planning and Operation group.

You will work on European and national applied R&D projects, collaborating with energy companies, grid operators, public administrations, and international technological partners to develop the solutions that will define the energy system of the coming decades.

You will participate in the design, development, and validation of advanced solutions for the intelligent planning and operation of electrical grids, contributing to projects related to:

• Electrical grids.

• Integration of renewable energies.

• Energy storage systems.

• Digitalization and automation of electrical grids.

• Digital twins and energy management platforms.

• Application of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to the energy sector.

• Curtailment assessment.

• Modeling and analyzing electrical power systems.

• Developing advanced tools for the planning and operation of electrical grids.

• Designing optimization algorithms for the management of distributed energy assets.

• Simulating the behavior of electrical grids and evaluating the impact of new technologies.

• Contributing to the development of digital platforms for intelligent energy management.

• Collaborating with industrial partners and leading research centers at a European level.

• Participating in the preparation and execution of R&D projects funded by national and European programs.

• At least 2 years of experience in electrical power systems, electrical grids, or renewable energy integration.

• At least 2 years of experience in engineering, innovation, or applied research projects will be positively valued.

We will value experience or knowledge in any of the following areas:

• Electrical power grids and systems.

• Electrical simulation using tools such as:

  • DIgSILENT PowerFactory

  • PSS®E

  • PSCAD

• Integration of energy storage.

• Programming and data analysis with Python.

• Mathematical optimization and advanced simulation.

• Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning applied to the energy sector.

It is not necessary to meet all the requirements. We are looking for people eager to learn and grow in a cutting-edge technological environment.

• EMERGE - analysis of the impact of new technologies and scenarios on the electrical grid, evaluating its behavior and its implications for system operation and planning.
• InterSCADA - Development of an AI-based decision support control, aimed at proposing operational maneuvers that keep the electrical system in safe conditions during adverse situations.
• INTEGRID - long-term demand forecasting algorithms and optimal asset location models in the grid.
• TWINEU - development of a digital twin of the European electrical system, supported by advanced modeling and artificial intelligence.
