R&D Packaging/Materials Technician

• Training in Product Development Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or similar.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in the development, approval, or industrialization sector of packaging or materials within a manufacturing, packaging, or container supplier company.

• Knowledge or proficiency in:

  • Packaging technology, especially flexible packaging for wet wipes and textile products.

  • Plastic films, flexible structures, adhesives, labels, paper-cardboard, and non-woven or textile materials.

  • Transformation processes: extrusion, printing, lamination, conversion, heat sealing, die-cutting, and non-woven manufacturing.

  • Project management.

  • Quality, sustainability, and packaging legislation.

🤝 What will your day-to-day look like if you join the Materials R&D&I team?

• Technically manage development and modification projects for packaging and materials for wet wipes and textile cleaning products, from initial definition to industrialization and production startup.

• Translate the needs of the Customer, Marketing, Formulation, Quality, and Production departments into viable, measurable, and manufacturable technical requirements for the product and its packaging system.

• Define primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions: flexible films and bags, flowpack-type packs, labels and opening/resealing systems, plastic caps, rigid containers where applicable, boxes, and transport packaging.

• Participate in the technical definition of non-woven substrates and textile cleaning materials when they affect the functionality, presentation, folding, dispensing, compatibility, or industrialization of the packaged product.

• Prepare and maintain technical specifications, drawings, material data sheets, acceptance criteria, approval documentation, and technical files for each component.

• Coordinate with Graphic Design regarding the technical feasibility of final artwork, printable areas, printing on film and labels, registration, tolerances, colors, finishes, and industrial trials.

• Technically manage packaging and material suppliers: requests for information, review of proposals, sample analysis, monitoring of developments, prototypes, pre-series, and technical changes.

• Design and coordinate testing and approval plans for films, labels, adhesives, closures, caps, and other components, in collaboration with the Packaging/Materials laboratory.

• Perform or supervise dimensional, functional, and compatibility tests: seal integrity and strength, tightness, moisture loss, behavior of adhesives and resealing systems, dispensing, and in-line performance.

• Analyze technical risks of the substrate-lotion-container-process set, identifying critical points of compatibility, preservation, and use before industrialization.

• Plan and lead pilot and industrial trials in conversion, impregnation, folding, packaging, and conditioning lines, documenting parameters, incidents, results, and corrective actions.

• Provide technical support during the first manufacturing batches and ensure the closure of deviations detected during industrialization.

• Investigate incidents and claims related to packaging and materials through root cause analysis, coordinating actions with Quality, Production, Purchasing, and suppliers.

• Propose improvements oriented toward cost reduction, waste reduction, line efficiency, component simplification, product protection, and improvement of the opening, use, and resealing experience.

• Participate in sustainability projects, material reduction, incorporation of recycled content when technically viable, improvement of recyclability, and adaptation to PPWR requirements and other applicable regulations.

• Manage several projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with deadlines, costs, quality, and customer requirements.

• Monday to Friday schedule in a central shift with flexibility in entry and exit and, intensive working days on Fridays.
