The role
🌍 We are revolutionizing energy to change the world
At Octopus Energy, we are not a traditional energy company. We are a team of passionate people working every day to make energy 100% renewable, accessible and fair for everyone.
We believe in technology and innovation as drivers of change. We want to transform the way the world consumes energy, removing barriers, simplifying processes, and offering a more human and transparent service.
For this very reason, our commitment is clear: clean energy must be the norm, not the exception. To achieve this, we combine sustainability with a people-centered approach, driving exceptional service and building an incredible team that shares our vision.
💡 But none of this would be possible without people like you. To continue growing and transforming the market, we are looking for talent eager to make a difference. If you want to be part of this change, contribute your energy, and help build a greener future.
What you'll do
- 🔌 Bringing new data to the platform: configuring managed connectors, preparing files from distributors, regulators, and third parties
- 🏗️ Building data models in dbt on Databricks, with tests, validations, and documentation from day one
- 🔍 Translating business questions into clear analyses and answers, investigating why two systems do not match until finding the differing rule
- 📐 Agreeing with the business what each metric means, and leaving it certified with its tests and its dashboard in Lightdash
- ⚙️ Automating manual processes and helping production processes run and be monitored
- 🤝 Working side by side with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Growth, and the global platform team, participating in the construction of Faro
The scope will grow, so you will touch much more than what is on this list. In six months, you will have seen from end to end how a data product is built, something that takes years in a large team.
What are we looking for?
We are building the Data & Intelligence function for Octopus Energy Spain, and the team is growing with it. We are looking for a Junior Data & Analytics Engineer Intern to join us in our Valencia offices.
The challenge: build the data layer upon which the entire company makes decisions, serving a person, a predictive model, or an AI agent equally. One piece of data, one definition, and total confidence in it.
That product is called Faro, and every metric that enters it is defined once, certified, and used throughout the company. First to accurately count what is happening, then to see it in real time, and from there to predict what is going to happen.
The role covers both ends of that work: bringing data to the platform and converting it into answers that can be trusted. On one hand, building the technical foundations that everyone will later use. On the other, taking an open business question, understanding what is truly being asked, and answering it with data. We start with the foundations, because they are what make everything else possible. If you are motivated by both, this is your opportunity.
🐙 We call it the 'Octopus Effect'
Working at Octopus Energy means joining a company where culture and people come first.
💜 We believe in flexibility and work-life balance. 🚀 We want you to reach your full potential. 🌱 We believe in a fairer and more sustainable energy model.
We are waiting for you! ⭐
🟢 Standard schedule: full-time Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 18:30 and Friday from 9:00 to 15:00.
